| I recall someone in this group saying they had a ring neck dove.
I also have one, recently adopted from the animal shelter,
and he tries to fit himself into his water dish, so I am assuming
he needs a bathtub.
I haven't found any good sites on the net about doves,
so if anyone knows of one, or can give me some information,
I would appreciate it.
I have canaries and finches, but haven't had a larger bird before.

| My best friend at work raised doves, such gentle , pretty birds. He told me to handle my bird and let him rest
on my chest. I bet you could find a bath for a cage by looking at parrot supplies at pet store, bird shop,
or what is that pet catalogue , Drs Foster and Smith?

| Thanks for replying!
This little guy is tame enough to be handled, but he doesn't like to sit with me.
That's ok, I just want to make sure I am looking after his needs properly.
I am going to the library this afternoon to see if I can find a book perhaps.

| It's been a number of years since I raised birds...but, you're correct about them needing a bath. (pie tins work very well and are the right shape. Some birds hate the feel of the metal but you can put a washcloth in the bottom of the pan and they ususlly get over it. You can also use a plant mister or spray bottle if you want the activity to be a bit more interactive. One of my birds used to love taking a shower with me so much that I installed a perch in the corner for her.
