My oldest is away for the summer working, first real job.

My younger two are home. The older of the two has religious lessons over the summer and a week at camp to go to. He has research etc to do in preparation for that as well as the studying he needs to do for his religious education.

I signed both of them up for the summer reading program at our local public library. It meets once each week. Our library also screens movies on Mondays and every other Saturday.

We have a pool, which is open, and of course lots of local and semi-local parks. The younger I am working on the reading, writing and math skills he acquired in school last year.

Me, I have my college courses over the entire summer, except one week. That one week I am taking the first vacation I've had in over two years, and taking it alone. Once I get back I have ten hard weeks of school till graduation.

I sort of view summers right now as a blessing and a curse. A blessing because none of us have to get up so wickedly early in the morning.........but a curse because I just don't have the means to do all the cool things with them I'ld love to be doing. Of course, this is the last summer I'll have with my kids before heading back to the work force, so I am trying to make it memorable. I have been blessed to have spent the last seven years home with them.

Well my plans of taking the space shuttle to Mars is put on hold (damn fuel prices). Guess I'll just do the next best thing and load up the truck and take the kids and dog and go camping
