| The 4th celebrates not only freedom, but independence from an oppressive government. For seven long years following July 4, 1776, an unbelievably courageous and determined minority of colonists fought to achieve our independence from England. So, The 4th a couple days away, I wanted to ask a couple questions...
Do you oppose school vouchers?
Do you oppose privatized social security?
Do you oppose a consumption tax instead of a withholding tax?
Do you support nationalized health care?
Do you believe that government programs should be increased?
Do you believe in the "minimum wage"?
If you answered yes to these, and you say that you have a Love of freedom, I don't think so. This isn't a celebration of freedom, this is a celebration of hypocrites
Now Americans are far more dependent on and oppressed by the Imperial Federal Government of the United States than they ever were by Great Britain. The level of taxation is higher, and the level of government interference in our daily life exceeds anything the colonists ever saw. In spite of all this, Americans will be waving flags, watching parades, going on picnics, and gawking at fireworks today, all in celebration of their love of freedom.

| won't answer your questions since it's pathetic to think that in america you would get to choose the "right" answer for all of us as you've done here. king george used to pick our plotical stance on the issues for us too did he not? was it not our desire to not have people like you and king george or hugo chaves deciding the correct answer on issues like you list here the very reason we shed blood for our independence? independence day hypocryte?

One would presume with the statement made above,
that perhaps YOU are included in this as well?
You are an American I presume?

Who said that I "would get to choose the "right" answer for all of us"? The questions are very simple. These things diminish our liberty and independence from an oppressive government. Do they not? It just baffles me that people who fight privatized retirement, school vouchers, a consumption tax, demand a minimum wage increase, and support government healthcare and other ever expanding government programs actually have the nerve to say that they cherish liberty, and freedom.

No ma'am, this statement does not include me. I am opposed to any and all unnecessary intrusion into my life and matters by any government. I most certainly DO celebrate the 4th of July. I revere this holiday. I know of no other symbol of freedom and independence that stands out stronger than this day.

perhaps i missunderstood then. so let me ask you this to clarify. when you made the following statement, "If you answered yes to these, and you say that you have a Love of freedom, I don't think so. This isn't a celebration of freedom, this is a celebration of hypocrites", after asking the questions that you have decided somehow define a "Love of freedom" as you put it, are you saying that i cannot love freedom unless i answer precisely as you would? suppose i were to answer "no" to all or any of the questions? hmmmmm?
you're welcome to your opinion which i will always respect, agree or not. but you are not welcome to tell me or anybody else what our opinion shall or should be for you to consider that we believe in freedom any less than you do. thats why i refuse to answer your questions even though i might answer yes to all. did our ancestors not die to provide us with this priviledge. i'm sorry but you do not sound very supportive at all of my right as an american to form my own thoughts and views without help from you or the government. it really is interesting that you use the word hypocrite in your thread title.

Correct. Flawlessly correct.

Dude, get off your high horse. These questions are simple. I find it very hypocritical for people to demand these government intrusions into their freedom, and then claim to love the very freedom the would exchange for a more intrusive government. You can go on and on about respecting others opinions or being supportive of others…fine, I get that. But when you say "that we believe in freedom any less than you do", I think that is where you are missing something. Sure, most "believe" in freedom. Hell, my kid believes in the Easter Bunny. "Believing" in something and cherishing it are two separate things.
"it really is interesting that you use the word hypocrite in your thread title."…nice implication. Aren't you clever? I can honestly answer these questions, and I do value and cherish my freedoms. I am no hypocrite.

Correct. Flawlessly correct.
Incorrect. Plain and simple.
Is that all you have to add? Really? Brilliant.

| yes i understand that YOU feel that YOU are no hypocrite. now, do YOU feel that I am a hypocrite were I to not answer precisely as YOU do to these specific questions that YOU have decided indicates my love of freedom? a simple yes or no to my question will provide much clarity as you seem to think a simple yes or no provides clarity in your question.

Answer a question with a question. Once again, clever.
I am pretty sure you can find the answer to your (diverting) question in the previous posts. But, I have no problem answering a simple question (yet again). YES, if you think that you should have more government intervention, regulation, and dictation in your life and your affairs, then you do not value freedom and liberty as much one who believes otherwise. Now, are you going to try to argue that a bigger, more intrusive government promotes freedom and liberty

| curious. what value do you put on my committment to freedom considering the nine years i served in the army including 13 months risking my life in vietnam as a medivac pilot? and so as to remove the hypothetical in the discussion, i do answer yes to at least one of your questions. now i'm simply doing as you originally asked. so just to clarify i think it's fair to ask you who posed these questions; does my one or more yes answers make me, a bronze star with v cluster (valor) recipient, a hypocrite in YOUR opinion? just YOUR opinion. there is no right or wrong answer. in YOUR opinion, do i cherish freedom any less than you?
