| I'm thinking of joining the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. Anyone currently a volunteer or have some experience with this program? It sounds like it would be a great way to give back to the community a bit, but I'm not sure if I could volunteer regularly since my work schedule varies so much.

| I had often thought the same thing about volunteering. Don't know if I could commit myself as a regular either. At least our hearts are in the correct places wanting to help others.

| i say give it a try. i haven't been a big sister but i've been an adult leader of a boyscout troop for about 2 years. many of them have issues and a few r from dysfunctional homes, at least three boys have parents that r alcoholics. one kid would get explosive tantrums, but before the final showdown he stopped coming.
any help u can give to kids makes a difference, even if its not immediate, u might plant a seed that will take roots when they're a little older -- or a lot older.

| I do this without being in any organization. My previous job was with adults with developmental disibilites, when I left I still stay in close contact with the people I worked with. I see these people on a regular basis and they know it isn't because I'm paid to do it or because I have a scheduled day to go see them or some party to take them to. I see them because they are my friends and I love them. I would recommend anyone to do this. In most cases they have no family and no on knows how much their best buddy means to them!!
Here it is the best buddy program.
