I'm new to gardening. Started late in the season. Decided to plant in pots tomato plants, green peppers, jalapeno peppers & basil. All seemed to call for a lot of sun. That's why I planted in pots - the only place with a lot of sun is on my back porch. Any advice you can offer so that I can make my first go at growing my own veggies and herbs - I'd appreciate it. Oh - I used organic soil and fertilizer pods.

Thanks!!!

Sounds like you have gotten a great start. Be sure they get enough ( food). The little (jobs) sticks that fertilize are great. They have them for veggies and flowers. Good luck and no weeds to you ..

Hey Junkie, keep in mind that pots are great but on windy days they have a tendency to lose moisture quicker than a garden spot. Just keep an eye on them and if you're going anywhere for a couple of days or more, give them a good soaking before you leave.

Thanks guys! I'll keep my eye on them. I do have a tendancy to travel on the weekends - so, I'll be sure to give them extra H2O.

travel,
I tried to email you some info about a good "container gardening" Yahoo! group but DHU will not let anyone in my age group email a young chick like you because I do not fall in the age group you are seeking. This group has loads of information, tips, ect. about container gardening. They will probably censor out the link that I am posting for it....but if you are interested in it you can email me and I will send it to you. BTW, my daughter has several pots of tomatoes and peppers. She has been picking some tomatoes for about two weeks. HTH, shy
