It's usually the beginning of the end for any relationship. Although I have friends that have open relationships and seem to be mature about it.

I've used it. But when you use it, you must be honest and upfront, not hiding the fact you have open relationships.

Cutie!

I have a friend who tried this but unfortunately, she couldn't handle it. I think ultimately these types of relationships are doomed to fail because ultimately, one person will develop stronger feelings than the other and then what???

You open and I close the deal.

I've been in open relationships before...of course I had no idea the "basement" door was swinging wide open...but you can bet your boots when I found it out I slammed that sucker closed...and locked it....LOL...I don't like swinging doors...they're dangerous.

I just don't get it...why do you want to be in such a realtionship. I hear a lot of reasons are because of financial situations or because of kids. I still think that's not a good idea. In fact it's a cowardly copout. I know speaking for myself, I don't want to be a cog in one of those wheels. With or without my knowledge.

Friends of mine have one....the've been married for ummm...17 years or so and have had the open thing the whole time.

They have had seperate partners but usually do the 4-some thing...(not all together in one pile but pairing up at the same time/location).

They are happy as pigs in poop...I don't get it myself but it works for them.

you and me need to find a forum where the general IQ is higher...

when I get back from my trip
I plan to look for another form of entertainment
or a forum based on something besides dating because
most people on here aren't what they say anyway
so whats the point?

Just so you know when I'm gone...
It was nice to read your posts, will miss em.

I personally haven't ever applied this open relationship anywhere in my life. But I just had a discussion with someone about it and they seem to think it is fine. I would fear that somewhere in that openness I would be the one hurt. For it seems only human nature that we are programed for one love at a time. Unless we are not attached to any relationship. Playing the field don't count since there is not a relationship to start with. I think sharing someone that I say I love you too is just a tad out there and my feelings could never adjust to it.

Actually we're conditioned to love one person at a time. It is natural and spiritually ok to love more than one person. There is no finite to love and there is no space disparity in your heart.

You might want to look at polyamory and what they say about that lifestyle in order to get insight about open relationships.

NO! Open relationships are a recipe for disaster. I feel like you can't truely love someone and want to share them sexually with other people. I dated a guy who wanted to "share me", and I thought he was disgusting. The person you are in love with should be precious to you and irreplaceable. You should not want to see anyone else touch them in that manner.
