| People....I am getting a little tired of hearing "Obama this" and "McCain that". This is getting a little on the old side. So let's have a reality check here.
Obama and McCain are NOT the only people running for president. There are other political parties and other candidates. There is no hard, fast rule that says you have to vote Democrat, or Republican. There is no hard, fast rule that says you have to vote for Obama, or McCain. This is the land of the free and you may vote for anyone you want to vote for. You can even do a "write in" for someone of your choice.
You will not be throwing a vote away. All votes are registered and counted. It is your duty to vote so do it! Vote for the candidate of your choice and remember...it doesn't have to be Obama, or McCain.
Isn't it better to vote for a winner that will lose than a loser that will win? By voting independent you are telling people that the candidates suck and rather than not voting you are casting your ballot for the person of your choice. In the final tally your vote will be counted. And who knows? Maybe an independent candidate will become our next president. Wouldn't that frost a few nuts on the Democrat and Republican side?

| Personally I am leaning towards Barr, but he does not have enougfh poll to be voted on in Oklahoma. If his suit in Ok wins I might be able to vote for him on a write in. If I can vote this time...

| You are right Twohawks.Sometime a protest vote serves a better purpose.I wish we could all agree on an independant candidate and really send them a message.

| Reality check?
Ok.
To at least 95% of the population, won't matter a hill of beans who becomes president.
That's reality.

| two, its been a very long time where we had a truly qualified presidential candidate. We've been voting for the 'lesser' of the evils for the past many elections. That's sad. I'm afraid after this election, people will start their protesting to take back America from the politicians, and a grass roots effort will start putting the 'regular' Joe's in the political offices.
one can only hope...
peace... don't be hatin'

well, two, I agree with you completely people SHOULD vote,
and if you don't vote, don't b*tch, either, thats a good reality check I think.
but this is the first election in as long as I can remember ( ok not as long as you, granted) where I didn't consider voting AGAINST someone.
I am not voting against mccain, I am voting FOR Obama.
his speech to the WORLD will be on cnn, and msnbc, and everywhere I think, at 12:30 today, central time. he is in Germany
and did you know that kennedy didn't write the saying " ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country?" it pisses me off when they teach LIES.
I just read in my book Kahlil Gibran wrote it, at least 50 years earlier.
why lie> whats the use in Jiven?

| and can one of you please explain to me the mentality of people that worry more about backing the winner than electing a leader?
because MY grandparents are like this ( my grandma anyway) and I find it extremely annoying. they are 80, but their capacities are NOT diminished at all, so I don't understand this screwed up logic.
but since you brought it up, you must know what I am talking about.
so whats the deal? is it a generational thing maybe? and where in the hell did it come from?
