Has anyone here ever had a room mate to help make ends meet? Would you do it at our age?
I haven’t had a room mate since my early twenties. Just wondering what to do if prices got any higher.

Nope, only a wife. And she's not here yet!

As a young Sailor, I had many roommates, some were fun, some were not.
If you take on a room mate, I would make sure I did a background check on the person.

Why not ? What about the communes in the 60's, early 70 's ?
It worked.

I consider it a good way to lose a good friend. I'd sooner loan them money.

In my younger days, yes. But today, no. Make that hell no.

A room mate would be the last resort for me unless it was family.

Richard, expect that from you, you have one on your elbow
Nabybrat, don't recall seeing you before, but a background check would be the right thing to do.
Tax, I hear you, if I could work around the clock I wouldn't need a roommate to help with the high cost of living. My home would be my work place..
Mrg423, I wish it was that easy, Life has changed since we were young.

Yes, if circumstances warranted it.
My secretary and her 2 preteen girls resided with me for eight months when I lived in Colorado after her husband threw her out and the bank foreclosed on her home.
I would also consider a male roommate, with no strings attached, if he was my friend and needed shelter.

ladybanks, So you're saying I'd be better off getting myself a boyfriend
Ms Kitty...I know you're right, but sometimes we are left with few choices.
Tlea 1551 ..is that all you have to say, I hear you loud and clear

Smalltown, I think relatives make even worse roommates.

A live-in boyfriend, now there's a horse of a different color!

I would not like having a roommate, but you never know what circumstances might cause you to do things you don't like.
