| I have not been around many pitts but my neighbor used to have two pitt bulls and when my son was 3,4,&5 he would ride one of them like a pony and she would love on him so much. I was secretly always afrraid they would turn on him but not because of anything I seen in the dogs. Just what I had heard about pitts. These particular dogs were great family pets but there are many that have turned on people for NO REASON AT ALL. And these dogs were Not abused. Do I think they are all a danger? Jury is still out.

| realize the dogs who were in the old "our Gang Comedies", all kids was a pit...it is like many breeds that have been made popular by sick humans who think they know enought to "train" a dpg fpr protection...when they really don't know how to teach the dog to sit..instead of the dogs being in shelters and such...the humans should be, because they will find yet another to attempt on....maybe a Yorkie...now that I would worry about!

| Any dog is dangerous, IF you teach it to be. It isn't the dog, it's the owner/training

Exactly. Dogs are great animals and I've loved the pit bulls I've had. They've been every bit as wonderful as any German Shepherd or any other dog I've had over the years. Any dog can be a vicious dog if it's raised and trained that way by its people. I've known pit bulls that kids wrestle with and dachsunds that'll take your ankles off if given the chance. It's almost never the dog and absolutely never the breed of the dog that causes problems.

| I don't have much personal knowledge of Pitbulls; however, I do know that any powerful dog can be a potential danger. Therefore, owning one is a big responsibility. I read in a book on dog breeds that a problem with Pitbulls is that once they do attack, they won't stop the attack until they are forcibly stopped or the victim is dead. There can also be a problem of overbreeding since the breed is so popular. Additionally, many aggressive people are attracted to the breed for the intimidation factor. So of course, with these people, you would have to worry about the type of message the dogs are sent.

| only if you train them to be. if you dont they are actually very loving dogs. ive never owned one personally but 2 of my roomates have before and i helped raise them and they were the sweetest things. all they wanted was to kiss and love on you and be close to you. the reason people think they are so aggressive is because people train them to be very often because if your gonna fight a dog, you wanna fight a bulldog, or rott, not a poodle or beagle

| I have owned two Pitbulls(Chopper and Baby), and they were two of the best dogs I have probably ever owned.Gentle, obedient, loving and mannered.I could make kissing sounds, and they would coming running with their short tails wagging knowing I was going to love on them.Just like children, it is all in how you raise them.

| I helped my sister rescue two pits. The previous owners were breeding them. So my luck, she was pregnant. So she had her puppies with me. My point is, I have a adult boxer and malamute.
Mommy decided to fight my Boxer....3x...I found her very vindictive toward other dogs. There was literally a dog fight. We kept them separate but somehow she found her way to my Boxer. She was good with people. But we blame it on hormones. Then she got in a fight with my Malamute....then Daddy jumped in. I almost got bit by my Malamute but she didn't clamp down when she realized it was my arm. But I couldn't pull her jaws and she put a gash in my dogs leg. I was so upset that I was ready to send them to the pound.
But she had her puppies. We were able to keep the dogs separated until the puppies got old enough. But I trained the puppies to be paper trained. They were the sweetest. My parents were good to people too. I was able to adopt the pups out and I kept the runt. And she is so good.
But everyone tells me, get them fixed. But I agree, any dog can turn on you but I have good dogs.
