| Murphy oil/walmart ... cullman area.. $3.54.. Jet Pep in Water Valley $3.55 yet almost everywhere else the gas prices are still $3.99 and even higher! Prices on a barrel of oil dropped dramatically for a few days and now it's at or close to record price. Since the oil storage tanks/fuel tanks usually have a 2 week supply I think that as one preventive measure we should all raise hell that there be a law passed that they can lower the price of gasoline any time they want but submit it before some committee or agency or the legislature or some damn body and give a 2 week advance notice that gas prices are going to be raised. Since we have a governing body that regulates prices of utilities this should also fall under their jurisdiction just like regulating price of electricity is done. Alabama power essentially has a monopoly on electicity... the oil companies are a conglomerate and so powerful that they really have no competition because we have to use gasoline and have very little alternative so in effect it works as a monopoly too and now it's a run away pricing monopoly. Except for the price of a barrel of oil as traded in the commodities market there is no reason they can't sell gasoline for far less than $1 per gallon. Like most businesses they get a percentage of the sale as profit and not a specific amount per gallon... so, he higher the price, the more they make... time to do something about it.

| I don't know anything we can do except write our legislators and suggest something like a two week notice of price increases which will put a stop to price gouging. You know something is bad wrong/crooked when one place is selling gas for $3.55 and another is selling it for $4.29 and they all keep it in the same storage tanks.

Ever heard of the saying, "I'll scratch your back, if you scratch mine"? Nice idea, but that won't happen. Sure it's crooked, but politicians are just as crooked.

| The Water Valley Jet Pep screwed everyone over though the Friday before last when all of this started. Everyone got scared and said we were going to be out of gas so I went and filled up there. $4.65 a gallon is what I paid. Next day it was $3.99. I was pissed. Nobody else went up that high. I don't think it's right that they got away with that. That store is close to my house so I do business there all of the time and normaly they are the cheapiest but not that day. Still makes me mad to think about it!!! Would be wonderful if we could see prices under $2 again but it will never happen.

| if you want gas prices to go down, limit your driving to only places you can't safely walk to and buy gas only on thursdays....if you need gas on Monday, wait till thrusday...this sounds nutty, but it forces you to concerve fuel...I recently bought a Motorcycle and it gets 70 to 80 MPG...My gas bill for the month has dropped out of sight...the tank holds 3.5 gallons and I gas up one thrusday a month..I know that some people have long comutes to work, but a lot of folks live just a few miles from work, that's the people that can make a difference..
Just my thoughts on Gas Prices... anymore than anyone else..

| HEY SHELL THEY DIDNT,I HEARD FROM A PRETTY RELIABLE SOURCE THAT THEY GOT FINED $12000 FOR PRICE GOUGHING SO THEY BROUGHT THERE PRICE DOWN TO COMPETE WITH WAL MART. I DID DO SOMETHING FUNNY YESTERDAY I WENT TO THE GOOD HOPE JET PEP,AND GOT 5 GALS OF REGULAR, CAME HOME HAD SOME GREEN BRUSH TO BURN SO I PUT SOME GAS ON IT TO GET IT STARTED AND THE SHIT WOULDNT BURN,I HAD TO LITERALLY LIGHT IT WITH A LIGHTER ,SO EITHER THEY ARE ADDING SOMETHING TO THERE GAS TO MAKE IT GO FURTHER OR THERES SOMETHING IN IT TO MAKE IT LESS FLAMMABLE, I THINK ITS ADDITIVES TO MAKE MORE OUT OF NOTHING MYSELF ,I HAVE NEVER SEEN GAS THAT WASNT 'EXPLOSIVE' IN A FIRE. I HOPE THAT THEY ARENT PUTTING CRAP IN THERE GAS TO MAKE MORE OF IT TO MAKE A PROFIT, YALL BE CAREFUL

| Heard on the news this morning that oil is down to $70something a barrel when it was up to $120 at the height of gas prices.... I just checked within 50 miles of me... All the places on the main road nearest me are at $3.53. Walmart/murphy oil is the cheapest place in cullman $3.16 with everyone close in price being $3.19. Within 50 miles of Cullman there's Kangaroo on memorial drive at $2.79, Murphy Oil/walmart $2.78 and then there's Bud's in Lacey Springs at $2.79. When I go to town I'll be taking at least 3 gas cans with me just NOT to buy the higher priced gas around here. If they're not within 10 cents then they're too high...hell, the stock market crashing down is damn good IMO! I can almost afford things now!
