| The local Home Depot is having a good sale on its trees. I would like to plant a peach tree in my yard. Has anyone else in the NJ vicinity ever tried to plant a peach (or any other fruit) tree in the fall? What were the results?

| We are a little colder here in CT, most peach trees do well here, just watch out for peach stealing squirrels. Make sure you save receipt, planting now is fine. The most important thing to keep in mind is after you plant it will need to be mulched and watered.
People often forget to water in the fall due to cooler temps. The ground needs to freeze wet for roots to keep the carbohydrates in the roots for the winter.

| We have a mild climate, and plant in the fall. Personally, I would buy from a local nursery and not Home Depot. I did
buy a nice fig tree from them, but I prefer our local old Italian nursery. As a matter of fact, we are going to plant
an early bearing peach later this month or next. I do not know about your area, but I bet a local garden group
would help. I would think if you mulched it, it would be ok. Will be interesting to see others' responses.
