My parents divorced when I was very young. My mother never bad mouthed my dad but my dad was never around for me emotionally or physically. When I was 16 something major happened in my life and my dad and I had a huge falling out. From that point onward, until I was 20 and expecting my first child, I did not speak to him or acknowlege his existence.

When I was pregnant I started to feel that he should at least be aware of the fact that he was going to be a grandfather. That is how we began a very slow process of reconnection and healing.

It didn't happen over night but today I can honestly say that my dad and I are very close and I am indeed a daddy's girl.

Hope this helps give you some hope.
