| In every day life when we try something new and the method or results aren't what we expected or desired we as individuals modify it or go back to what worked previously. I'm not advocating going backwards, BUT I am seriously questioning the true benefits nationally for our economy and our jobs with the advent of NAFTA ! Maybe I'm missing something? But it certainly seems to be that our Government at least out to look at some form of amendment to it. Right now its China ships to U.S., no balance of trade.

| The problem is that people seem to be too preocupied with Britney Spears and Paris Hilton
Meanwhile our man and women are dying in an obscene war overseas and we are being robbed of our freedom by politicians and things like "The Patriot Act"
"It's impossible to chain men merely by enslaving his body , the mind also must be held , and to accomplish this fear is the accepted weapon"

| NAFTA is the worst. we lost so many good paying jobs, and jobs that u don't have to have a college degree for. i'm in college but i don't believe that everyone in the nation should be told that they have to have a college degree to be able to be allowed to live a middle-class life. in the old days people with a couple of years of college or even high school diplomas could get the kind of job that once u learned the skill, even if it was a factory or manufactoring job, if u worked hard u could rise in the business, or get pay raises and just one working parent could support a household. now those kind of jobs are in foreign countries and we r left with the jobs that u have to be highly educated for if ur going to live decently OR they are service jobs with pay so low u still qualify for foodstamps. and this doesnt improve the standard of living for the workers in the other countries either since their jobs are based on who can work the longest for the cheapest wages.
GATT is just as bad as NAFTA, and when CAFTA comes i guess americans just better get our cups to rattle on the street for charity.

| What really pisses me off.....is that "Bill" got 26 million dollars from China for a 30 minute speaking engagement RIGHT after he left office after signing NAFTA....
I suppose we get what we elect. If you REALLY think about it.....(if Hillarys elected) we'll have 32 years of either a Bush ot a Clinton in a high powered position leading this country,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I think NOT !!!!

| Is this where I am supposed to come to praise Bush and the republican/democratic/liberal parties? Got a shit load more Bush jokes than Clinton jokes....worst thing Clinton did was get popped for lying about getting laid......(let's not forget he accidentally put America in the black...financially speaking after Reaganomics and George Sr.).....no one saw that coming! It had never happened in history!
Vote for Hillary....not only is she hot! We could get Bill into the First lady/man poition....the comedians will have a field day!....We gotta vote em in just for the jokes!

| My opinion is this country's economic and social impact will be hamstrung after the 8 years of heavily spun evasion of international social laws in pursuit of a place in the history books.....Hope he get's the "czoucesku" treatment....
I would be happy to be in the firing squad.

| I'm hoping our economy is in a transition... Don't pretend to be in the "know" about this subject... just following a good looking guy's threads... (barely past economics in college; couldn't understand the language) but thinking this country needs to come up with a new intellectual import... we need to be seriously looking at why we are consumed with being consumers. I believe our efforts should be placed in our education system, intellectual development and science.
Why not let China, India or South America make the goods, let us have the foresight to invest our resources in developing solutions to monumental needs of this planet... alternative/renewable energy, medical and scientific breakthroughs and perhaps a cultural awakening for our citizens to have a pride in what we export.
For if we come up with these solutions; they will want our product.
Now did that sound... good or what?

| oh hell, we still come up with the medical solutions for the free world. and we pay the most. why? because they can charge the american public more than other economies. That's the sad part. We are their bread and butter and yet, they stick up with the big cost. Supply and demand I suppose, simple economics.
NAFTA sucks, and the part of china shipping stuff to us and nothing going back..... well, consider france and japan.
now that China is building their own super port just off the CA coast in Mexico. Claiming the ports in America are not fast enough unloading. Yet, our congress's answer is to only charge them less import tax via Mexico when the truck loads of containers are trucked and railed across. Not considering the profits made by those unloading the containers. Of course, we are always looking for better pricing, but times like this come to bite us on the butt.
