I am so ready for a real relationship! I live in a very small town, there are no single men in the church I attend, I don't go to bars (often) and don't pick up men in bars anyway, the produce department at the grocery store just is NOT producing....

.....at my age.....c'mon folks.........where does a gal meet a good man?

I live in a "no fat chicks" zone where none of the men I know (or meet) will get past the outside to see what is inside.

Ladies, you have isolated yourself from happiness by staying within your comfort zone. There are many men out here who are looking for women as yourselves. Long distance relationships are difficult, true, but just how much are you willing to take a chance on it to find what your heart desires? Distance is only a matter of mind. If you don't mind, it shouldn't matter. Don't deny your hearts what they want and need.

Well put nova. Ladies always seem to get in the way of themselves before anyone gets a chance.

nova...distance is only a matter of mind. I totally agree, where there's a will there's a way. No need to debate it, just enjoy the moment and be open to possibilities. Worrying about the future will cause me to miss the wonders of now.

I personally have tried a long distance relationship. It worked wonderfully for awhile, then tapered off till we just didn't hardly communicate anymore. If you are going to do that, give it your all!

what? no "fat chicks" zone??? big women are the best in bed

Southern Lady & Harley Honey--- let's be honest here. It's obviously difficult to meet the opposite sex or we wouldn't be here. That includes the guys who have commented on this!

Long distance relationships-- do this if you don't have any qualms about leaving your family, your job, your home, and your friends.

Rather than looking far away for a good man, try looking closer to home. It's easier to date and develop a good relationship when you see each other frequently.

I've gotten involved in a singles volunteer group and have met some pretty nice guys that way and enlarged my circle of girlfriends too. It gets me out of the house and gets the focus off me and on helping others.

I'm thinking of hosting a singles' potluck dinner at my home. Each guest I invite must bring a guest that is of the opposite sex. Their guest cannot be someone they are dating but someone they are friends with and would not hesitate to introduce to others for possible dating. I'll provide the relaxed atmosphere, music, candles and five acres to stroll around on for all the guests. And who knows... I just might meet someone nice too. If I do, that's great. If I don't, well maybe someone else will that night!

Best of luck to you all!

Oh, Liberty Hill is a little town about 35 miles outside of my hometown --Austin, Texas! Actually, I live a few miles outside of Liberty Hill too. Lots of oak trees, deer, and quiet. You can see all the stars at night without the city lights of Austin!

Sometimes my sons have big, outside parties here too. Their parties usually involve bonfires and everyone brings their own chairs/drinks/snack food. My oldest son had one of those parties here last weekend. When I went to bed there were probably about 30 or so, but I was told the cars/trucks kept coming all night and the party was huge. No, they didn't trash out my land and they had a blast!

Stella and Gator, distance can often work in favor of a relationship that will be long lasting. Knowing the person's personality, their mindset, past, etc. is a good thing to discover before allowing the physical attraction to one another overshadow the true building blocks of a healthy relationship.

The idea of singles dinners is a great idea. Wish I could find one here but as you have heard, small towns don't have a lot of singles, and the ones that are available may not be the ones you really want to spend your life with. Long distance is falling for someone in Russia or the UK. But even those have been successful as well as not. It all depends on the emotion, mental, and spiritual connection and bond that is formed from the beginning; that which will be long lasting once the physical looks and attractions are gone.

Age is a matter of mind as well. If you don't mind, it shouldn't matter. But there needs to be a line drawn. Too many news stories of teachers falling for students is morally wrong, of course. But 10 or 20 years age difference between a couple should not be an issue if there is truly a connection there. Now in the case of women marrying older men for security, well...what can be said. To each his own. Judge not least ye be judged first.

Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened for you. Listen to your inner voice always.
