| is there anybody out there who is friends with thier ex? mine seems to think i should be her best friend . i'm nice to her but only discuss our childern.if she tries to side track the conversation i say goodbye. am i wrong?

| I am friends with my 1st X but it is because we have a son together. If we had no children then I would have no reason to get be in touch with him. If I saw him walking down the street I would be polite and say hi but that would be the extent of it.

| I maintain a civil relationship with my ex for the same reason - the children. She used to allow me to visit the children at her house (i.e. stay and watch the baseball/football games with them, help with homework) but lately she's been keeping me from doing that. I can still visit with them, I'm just not allowed in the house. Makes it a bit more difficult, but not impossible. I think it's all because I won't see her as anything more than an ex spouse, when she wants to try and rebuild a relationship.
If you think you can be her best friend, then that's fine. If not, you'll have to tell her as bluntly as possible without creating resentment. In my situation, if there were no children involved, I wouldn't even be talking to my ex. Ask yourself if you would do the same.

| Sounds like she still has feelings for you, and she wants to try and get some control over your life. Don't let her do that....been there, didn't enjoy it. Try to give out as little info about your personal life as possible. Unless it will affect your kids, she doesn't need to know.

| I have the opposite problem with my ex - well sort of. I wanted to try and be friends for our kids sake but he wasn't interested. In the meantime he is very busy worried who I am with and what I am doing.

| All I'm trying to say if there are children involed, we as adults, should be adult enough to put everything else aside and get along. It will only hurt the children in the long run and when it's over, it's over, so let it all go.

| I am friends with all of my exes.
My ex HUSBAND is even one of my best friends.
I don't hold grudges and find it's a waste of time and energy to do so.
I'm no better or worse than anyone else and I don't see we all just can't "get along".

| absolutely, i am great friends with most of my ex's... not that there are that many...lol but hey we were friends to start with anyway... so we didn't work out being a couple... so why not just go back to being friends...
