WRITTEN BY A 15 yr. Old SCHOOL KID IN ARIZONA :

NEW School prayer :

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.
We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks..
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong.
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!

.........Amen

Thanks Genuine...that is very inspirational and heart warming!! Although they may be able to keep a simple public display of gratitude and acknowledgement of God out of our public schools, they can never take Him out of our hearts and minds.

When your children or grandchildren are old enough to understand the "battles of the petty and the foolish"(JMO)you can always teach and encourage them to do this .......

There is nothing to keep anyone from praying even without moving the lips, bowing our heads, or closing our eyes. God understands the situation and He will listen to our prayers offered from any position when they are sincere and heart felt.

.....peace

God is in your mind anyway so why worry about what others think. However they too have their choice of not participating in your prayer and worship. When all learn that rights belong to those that think differently than you then and only then will we really be free to worship in freedom. That however does not have to be in public and forcing others to hear.

You know it goes without saying....How so many in this world have such shallow minds. I didnt ask you or anyone else to agree with this or disagree. The POINT of it all is to take a look at this world thru the eyes of a 15 yr old child. If you cant do that without throwing stones? Then just walk away in peace. You dont go to school so what is that poem got to do with forcing you to do anything? I come here in peace lady with ideas to share with others. Not sure what your intent is? But I seem to be getting a glimpse into the minds of others very clearly. Especially, any thread that has anything to do with God.

Let me ask you something. Would you take the same approach to your own 15 yr old girl or boy? As you did on this thread? Ask youself "what if" your own kid wrote that poem? How would you react to them mam? Probably in the very same manner as you did me. Am I right?

I do not come here to preach. I dont come here to debate issues of church and state. Lady I come here for adult conversation. And some just cant seem to maintain that. So pls be more open minded! Stop judging threads! And allow others to have freewill!

I repeat....this thread is only posted by me to allow others to see our world from the eyes of a kid. So take that and twist it into a debate if you choose too. I mam refuse to go that way with you. I personally agree with all that that child said. She even made more sense than most adults that I have seen lately.

Catch my drift?

If I read too much into your comments and I am wrong of you? Then accept my apology. If I did receive your comments correctly? Then take mine for what its worth.

Have a nice day!

Now some may think this is a so called sore subject, but if people are going to spend money with the words, "In God We Trust" Well..............say something.
I am a Native American and believe in Christian ways that parrallel with so many religions, and people are still fighting and killing one-another about, you name it, there is something really wrong with this human race. I'm just glad that God decided to Bless more than one planet.

The problem is that the separation of church and state was to Keep religion
or religious doctrine out of the Government where it could be forced upon the
population...I am not against prayer in school, yet I could make a good
argument either way for or against as their are valid points to either side.

However...current policy is hypocritical..and serves no purpose. Prayer in
school when I was young..did not determine or impact my adult life.

The thoughts of this 15 year boy through the prayer he wrote serves as a
message to all...what are we telling are children....its okay to teach sex
in school...to educate about alternative lifestyles...to teach about corrupt
two faced government policies....Burning the american flag is considered
free speech..uttering a prayer..is condemned...go figure...this country is
losing its grip on reality....God help us and our children, as they will
inherit the mess we are leaving them.. jmo
