| I've camped and slept on nothing but a quilt on the ground with another to cover me. After I married, we camped in a wonderful tent. after my divorce, as soon as I had saved enough money , I bought a tent with a top screen. I love it because I can look up if it isn't raining and see the stars as i go off to sleep. Two years ago, my brother bought a pull behind pop up tent camper with two great big beds. I wasn't real crazy about the idea, but wnet without my tent to save space. I was so comfortable that it was easy to forget about the tent. i could even look out the window by my bed and see the stars.
After three trips with the pop up of my brothers' I am longing to sleep on my airmattress in my tent. At my age, however, I had to make a compromise. Bought one of those bed height queen size blow up beds and except for the time it takes to blow it up, I love it. Haven't taken it camping yet. will get back to you with results.

| Since I am getting older tent camping is not as fun especially when it seems to rain everytime I go. I purchased a used "pop up" camper and I love it. It is just as easier to put up as a tent (maybe easier) has beds that are comfy and keeps me dry!!! It also can store alot of the camping equipment and easy to pull with the van.

| Which do you prefer? I have always had tents... but now that I'm getting older, a camper is starting to sound pretty good! always tent but 7 years ago i got a 24foot trailer and set it up on some friends place and now i go down there by bike or truck and stay in it like this weekend i went down by bike and we went fishing and did some hunting even in the trailer i sleep out side under the stars( still nice out)

| I have had trailers, motorhomes and now a truck camper on a 4X4. I have tent camped with big tents, horse packed into the wilderness and lately motorcycle camping. There is a place for all depending on where, when and weather. I do not enjoy a tent at 40* in constant rain.

| I am privileged to enjoy both & living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with the mountains, lakes, ocean, etc. it is simply awesome. When I want to really get away, I get the backpack out & go to my favorite hiking spot in the Mt. St. Helens (the one that came alive in 1980 and lost her top!) Volcanic Nat'l Monument area by backpacking in and tent camp. It is the most peaceful spot to be and just get away. It is trails where no motorized vehicles can go and I camp at a lake full of trout and a beautiful meadow with wild strawberries and blue huckleberries are. The only sound of mankind you might hear is an airplane going over or the occasional 'fish-on' hehehe. I agree with Trublu, I use my throw 'em in the air tent and when it hits the ground it is all set up!
I also have camped in a truck with canopy/camper (was hunting in Montana one year where the below zero temp hit and it sure is nice to have propane!! . I helped get some people to roof my uncle's house and he gave me an older 19' class C motorhome for my efforts. I was grateful and I have used that to travel to various state parks and also for hunting. May post some pictures sometime on some of my various adventures. I do have 2 pics of a recent hike at Mt. Rainier here in beautiful Washington state & one of a beautiful sunset & of pics from Alaska on a recent trip.
May you all enjoy the awesome privilege we have under God's heavens to experience the joy of camping in the great outdoors. God bless, Doc

| I love tenting, and sitting by the camp fire telling stories. It's nothing like it!!!! Then waking up to the Coleman stove to bacon and eggs.....What fun!!! With 6 kids in my family thats all we did is camp in the White Mountains...Loved it! I didn't get to do it this year with my kids, because I was afraid to go alone with just the kids and me.....Not to sure it's smart...Maybe next year I can find someone to come along....
But again have to say tenting....

| Well lets see now camping vs Land Yachts. For myself I prefer the backpacking and tent, but then again since this IS the 21st century with laptop internet cards, and cell phones along with a membership at 24 hour fitness for showers I also enjoy living in my converted short bus and run my business out of it.
Think about it, I save the rent towards my own, why pay someone elses mortageg, and if you don't like the neighbors you move, tired of the view, you start it up and move, then again I am lucky I do this in Sunny Southern California.
Have to agree with one poster though the mind may say you're 26 the body reminds us now and again we're not so THAT is why Mules and Horses were invented.
Anyway I prefer the tent and the backpack/mule, go where people can't take civilization with them, how many times have you been in a campground where others have all their lights going the music full and drunk and obnoxious, you don't come across that 5 to 100 clicks in, 95% of the time you meet up with good people, even a few rare old hippies.

| To me.. camping isn't camping unless it is tent camping. My oldest brother " camps" in his rv... a motel on wheels lol. When I used to go with him and his family camping, I would still set up my own tent rather than sleep in the RV.
There are some places I've been were a camper would've been very desirable, like when the winds are howling like a banshee in the deserts here in the west, and also on mountain tops...there's been times I've had to turn around and seek alternate locations due to very high winds...and we all know how fun it is to set up a tent in 30 MPH winds...

| I like my 23ft travel trailer. We did the tent and pop up thing for awhile but I got tired of getting WET!!! I was not one to give up when it started to rain though. I still do all the cooking out side and some over the fire. Pretty much the only thing we do is sleep in the trailer and play games when the weather is bad. Otherwise we can be found outside somewhere. It is to bad he got the truck but I got the camper...hehehe.

| I've always gone tent camping in the past, but really didn't do much of it. I have 2 and 4 year old little girls and would like to enjoy camping more with them, so I just bought a small pop-up camper. No fridge, no A/C, Small cooktop. Nothing special, but it will help me and the girls to enjoy our "bonding" time together. I can't wait!

| personally I can't even wrap my head around campers being for camping. To me they are for traveling buit once you get to the camp sight or to the place where you get out to go find the camp sight. It gets left behind, Kind of like the vehicle that got us there. After that its under the stars or in a tent. Fires for heating water and streams to wash up in.

| Hi, I have had the luxury of a 36' 5th wheel toy box of several years now and it is what it is. I do enjoy bringing my toys with, but do miss roughing it from time to time. Also this is not the kinda thing you take off the beatin path.
The van thing has been sounding pretty inviting lately. Can park that a lot closer to the hiking trails.

| I actually live all summer in a 25 foot trailer trailer. It has been on the same site for 4 years. I went to a week long concert, one summer with my tent. I had been there twice before with a borrowed RV. I would take the RV.. more room, dryer.. all around a better time, but the tent was livable. and my son and I had a great time.
