When you first make contact with someone or vise versa, why do they get angry or upset when you won't talk on the phone.

For example. I exchange emails, or IM for a day and during that first conversation, they want to talk on the phone. I just am not comfortable with that. And i have already had to change my home line once and it cost $150.00. Since then, I am very careful.

It has happened twice lately. I just need a sense of seurity. and after that I have no problem sharing it with them. I guess for me, it is a matter of trust.

I dunno..I rarely ask for phone convo, unless we've been chatting, writing for a while..and are planning to meet..in case I get lost..would be nice to be able to call to ask for directions

It could be some people don't type so well. and want to talk..easier for them to express themselves thru voice..
I'm just the opposite..I write more eloquently than I speak..its still me in voice..still the same person, same heart..the words just don't come out in voice the way they came out in my mind.

It just happened, and when I told the person that I'm not asking for weeks of "chatting", just time to gain a sense of who he was and such, he just got offline without a word.

I must be a wierd person then. I absolutely hate, and I mean HATE, chatting on the phone.
All my friends have figured this out, they just call me now and ask if I'm home so they can come talk to me hehe.

then you may consider yourself lucky ..if a person won't take no for an answer, without flying off the handle..it may be a red flag..a sign of deeper issues that you don't want to get involved with

Tell them if they want to talk so bad.... you'll take their number then *67 your number blocking them from seeing your number when you call them.

i thought thats the point of having emails and ims was an alternative to talking on the phone. maybe its a different generation, these days friends give their emails, yahoo or tell someone to hit up their myspace quicker than they give their phone numbers.

im another one who doesn't like talking on the phone, i type and read really quick so its just more fun to me to communicate online. i don't have a cell (and don't want one till they do more research).

its different for people who r planning to date or meet, but in the case where ur just getting to know each other i don't think its necessary and maybe not safe to give out ur number. especially to someone who catches an attitude as quick as he did.

it's happened to me twice, then one conversation on the phone and then nothing. wierd. the conversations were nice...don't know what they were looking for....don't like it when they ask for phone chatting right away.

I've gotten several people send me the first email with a "demand", I guess you could say - telling me to send them my # where they can call. And I've also had several send nasty emails because I haven't responded to the 19 others they have sent me that day alone.

I don't need or want anyone that is that needy and controling. I have a life and do this in my spare time. Work comes first. (Unfortunately not dating, though. That's why I'm here!! LOL!! ) I would never consider giving my number to anyone until we've talked for a while and get to know each other.

i dont give out my # alot....only to a few people i have gotten to know very well first......if a guy gets mad that you are trying to be safe and cautious...then i would say not to give out your # to that guy.......could be a stalker.....
