Scriptures such as Mathew chapter 24, Mathew 25:13, Mark 13:33, Luke chapter 21, 2 Timothy chapter 3 1-13, Revelation 12: 9-12.
Whether your religious or not we all know Armageddon is gonna happen. I believe our generation (everyone on this board) will be the generation that will witness Armageddon, the war to end all wars, and the war that will bring an end to the wicked system.
My question to all of you do any of you feel we are really closer to Armageddon? True we don't know when its gonna happen, but do you feel we're VERY close?

Poor fear driven, ignorant, and superstitious people that need to have something to excuse their lack of a life!
You have been fed nonsense and because of your ignorance and neediness, you have accepted it!...

People who believe this nonsense end up hurting themselves or others, directly or indirectly!!

Matthew 24
"What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? ... Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes."
The end of the world will be signaled by wars, famines, disease, and earthquakes. Correct me if I’m wrong but we have had a lot of earthquakes, disease, famine and wars and still no end of the world and such...
Wake me when you folks have a slightly more accurate (and less ambiguous) mode of prediction...

We have gone through these things, but not on the scale Christ described. It will be so bad that men will pray for the mountains to fall on them and kill them; but suicide will not be an option. ALL must go through the 7 seals, but only those NOT in the first resurrection will suffer the Bowl Judments.
IMO, we are in the birth pangs at the present. One of the main thing Christ expressedly said to watch for is the rapidity of changes leading up to the tribulation.
God is bringing about the 7 Seals and 7 Bowl Judgments.

Matthew 10:23
Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.
Matthew 24:14
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Jesus says the gospel will be preached to all nations "and then shall the end come." But in Matthew 10:23, he said the end would come before the gospel was preached to all the cities of Israel.
In any case, this is a false prophecy since the gospel has been preached throughout the world (as Paul says in Romans 10:18) yet the world hasn't ended.

This is just like when satan took Jesus up on the mountain to tempt Him. Satan only gave half of the scripture, and Jesus finished it out.
Yes, He said when the gospel had been preached throughout the world the end would come.
Did He say right at that moment? NO He did not, and why? Because Jesus had already given a list of things to watch for and said when you see THESE things, know that the end is near. Has these things happened? NO, not on the scale that Jesus described.
Just as I have said, God says He allows it to rain on the Just and the Unjust, but the mysteries of His word is RESERVED for His CHILDREN.

| You cannot predict the End of the World by the Bible. Because the Bible was originally oral tradition. It wasn't written down until the 1st Cen. AD. Another problem would be mistranslation, missing text, decaying papyrus. Besides, many have said The End has already happened! In 60 - 70 AD. Is was writ down as history, not as a prediction.

Humans may destroy themselves or render themselves extinct through a virus or pandemic of some kind but it would probably take about 100 years of no human abuse and manipulations for the earth to simply regenerate and go back to where it was before we were around about 200,000 years ago or so.

People have been saying that since the early years following the crucifixion. If you want specifics, here are a few notable dates when the world was supposed to end, but didn't:
1745-1757
September 15, 1829
October 22, 1844
1914
January 6, 1935 (Sung Myung Moon)
1930's (Rudolph Steiner)
January 11, 1973
1975 (Herbert Armstrong)
June 21, 1982
September 13, 1988
September 6, 1994
January 1, 2000
September 13, 2007
September 30, 2008
Note that the 2nd grouping is all fairly recent history. This brings to mind a cartoon my old principal had on his desk. It showed a man wearing a robe and sandals in the pop-style of Jesus, with a long white beard. He was holding a sign that said "The End is NOT near. Learn to Cope."

Stabba dabba do, wilco ms.xapps.
All depends on what you mean by regenerated.
Ok, were losing species left right and centre, you can check out the stats on that. If we keep clear cutting the ocean floor will cause a catastrophic effect in the ocean "conveyor" systems and loss of many fish species.
The earth can rebound, but that's assuming the means for doing so is still around to do that.
OK so how long for the earth to repopulate the species destroyed? as far as we know once a species is extinct it remains so.
Time for recovery to pristine state, who knows, if the climate continues to heat up how long till it gets back? Does anyone really know the final consequences?
Capitalist mentality is driving the destruction, it is not a balanced enterprise, neither does it exist to promote society, although one can argue there have been some benefits from it. It ain't sustainable. Here in Canada the gov of Ontario is going to spend heavily on new nukes for power rather than spending on renewable sources such as wind, which the place has an abundance of..
As one CEO stated, corporations exist to create wealth not create jobs...how ironic, he failed to add wealth for the few...with that mentality running the world it can only get worse..
As for a stab - I cannot stab at a constantly moving object..

All depends on what you mean by regenerated.
***************************************************************************************
I’m speaking of a world not consumed by holy fire but returned to ecological balance by the removal of the most disruptive species in history.
***************************************************************************************
Ok, were losing species left right and centre, you can check out the stats on that. If we keep clear cutting the ocean floor will cause a catastrophic effect in the ocean "conveyor" systems and loss of many fish species.
***************************************************************************************
I never stated otherwise. It’s the Christian viewpoint that differs. My position is that the destruction of habitat by human activity and the extinction of species around the world is more than a looming environmental catastrophe. It’s happening and it has nothing to do with your Armageddon. This ecological damage also endangers human life by the evolutionary adaptation of viruses. You won’t need Armageddon, trust me. But where does that leave this planet? You have not answered that one yet.
***************************************************************************************
The earth can rebound, but that's assuming the means for doing so is still around to do that.
*****************************************************************************************
Explain why it would not be? Very arrogant statement once again.
**************************************************************************************
Time for recovery to pristine state, who knows, if the climate continues to heat up how long till it gets back? Does anyone really know the final consequences?
***************************************************************************************
No but if humans are not here to amass these green house gases, it might drop off substantially. There is no reason to believe it would not return to an ecological balance over time similar to before we were even here. The numbers vary. In certain areas of the world it might take longer where there has been more substantial destruction of the ozone like in areas of the southern hemisphere.
************************************************************************************
As one CEO stated, corporations exist to create wealth not create jobs...how ironic, he failed to add wealth for the few...with that mentality running the world it can only get worse..

| Good luck on that. I’m sure it won’t matter to you anyway since you assume that you have a better place awaiting you in heaven, forget the earth, what does that matter...sheer arrogance
I see ya really good at jumping to conclusions again, and reading into my posts your own biases and interpretations, as bigD said it seems to be a short coming of yours. As evidence by the following
As for a stab - I cannot stab at a constantly moving object..
*************************************************************************************
That does not make any sense. I told you to please keep it at debate level and not personal
The constantly moving target is the destruction of the earth, so until it stops how can one make a stab at how much time for the earth to regenerate in your proposed scenario..
The earth was and is meant to be populated, it will be populated by God's people in their resurrected bodies.
It will be renewed by God, this is His promise, we aint gonna be floating around in heaven on some supernatural cloud, that's a common mythconception that people have.

Oh okay I’m actually sorry then. I thought you were referring to me as the "moving object" and being a little pill after I had told you not to do that again. In that case, I do apologize as it was a miscommunication.
Did this run in canada?

Yeah, overall I thought it was pretty good and based in reasonable guesswork because there is no way to know but you can speculate. The thing is, humans (homo sapien sapien) have existed here only around 200,000 some years. Thats not even a blink of an eye on a geologic timescale.
This would be the kind of situation I was referring to. So it could be a virus or something along those lines. Something that would dstroy all human life but not flora or fauna or the oceans.

| Just think of the pyramids in south and america that have been left.... you can't even find them because of the over growth.... but then again i think after we're gone, all things will cease to exist.

| Yes that’s part of what they depicted, just tremendous growth. You should check out this series. It’s pretty interesting to watch. They just go all over the world and keep adding time on. The chimps start to "raise pigeons" because they correlate that if they just eat them for meat, they have less eggs. I could see that happening because chimps are so bright.
