Quote from rig216:
Since the establishment of the 13 colonies, Americans have developed their own unique laws, and outside interferences to change them will only enrage the traditionalists.

Compare to other nations, the Don't ask, Don't tell is one of the above mentioned unique law.

But, if the traditionalists are pointing their negative fingers at other country's laws, be prepared for a debate.

Here a list of Countries allowing Homosexual to serve "openly" in their military;

Argentina
Australia
Bermuda
Canada
Germany
Israel
Italy
The Netherlands
New Zealand
Phillipines
Romania
United Kingdom

Those super powers listed above and the number sent to our aid in Iraq. I'm mindful that the terrorist do not do much bombing in many of these countries. Though their soldiers I am sure are brave and can do the job, they are not called on as much as the United Kingdom or America.

I guess American's can be called "The Ghost Busters" of the services in the world.

argentina- ZERO

australia- 500 troups, the initial Australian force consisted of; 3 Royal Australian Navy ships, 500 special forces soldiers, P-3 Orion maritime patrol aircraft, C-130 Hercules transport aircraft and No. 75 Squadron RAAF (which included 14 F/A-18 Hornet fighters).

Bermuda- ZERO

Canada- ZERO

Germany- ZERO

Israel- ZERO

Italy- 1600

The Netherlands-1684

New Zealand- They flew the 500 commando Australian over.

Phillipines- 100

Romania- sending more troops, making them the 7th largest in Iraq, raising its number to 830 troops

United Kingdom- 4100

Knight,

Your quote "Canada ZERO"

I'm very disapointed....

On March 25, 2003, during the "shock and Awe" bombardment of Iraq, U.S. Ambassador to Canada Paul Cellucci admitted;

"Ironically, Canadian Naval Vessels, aircraft and personnel supplied more support to this war in Iraq "indirectly" than most of those 46 countries that fully supported our efforts there"

Knight, do you think I made this one up?

Like I've mentioned in a previous post, Americans who negatively point their fingers to other countries, be prepared for a debate!

No Canadian troops to Iraq: Martin
Last Updated: Thursday, October 14, 2004 | 5:50 PM ET
CBC News
Prime Minister Paul Martin reaffirmed Ottawa's stance that it will not commit troops to Iraq, saying Canada should instead play a role where it can "make a substantial difference."

Martin, who made the comments after meeting with French President Jacques Chirac in Paris on Thursday, said Canada's primary contribution to Iraq's reconstruction will be $300 million in humanitarian aid.

Martin's comments on Iraq come as two international meetings were being held on how to help the war-torn country.

"We intend to play a role. But clearly we are going to focus on those areas where the Canadian role is significant."

Martin, who is wrapping up his international trip to Russia, France and Hungary, cited peacekeeping efforts in Afghanistan and Haiti as areas where Canada is playing a key role.

"We are not on the sidelines," he said.

Martin told France's Le Monde daily newspaper that it's better to play a key role in Afghanistan than a marginal one in Iraq. He said Canada's commitment to have troops in Afghanistan will continue.

"I'm not saying we will not play a role in Iraq," but whatever Canada does must make a "significant difference," Martin said. "There's a limit to our resources."

There's my source...

rig, I typed in each country listed, and searched, xxxxx troops in iraq. Regardless, most of the armies you listed as tolerant of gays aren't very large or powerful. At least Argentina's military booted the thug out.

Knight, in 2003, it was an election year in Canada, and the majority of Canadians did not support the Iraq invasion. Therefore, How can we help our American friends without losing any votes?

That is why Canada "indirectly" help Americans invade Iraq in many ways.

That's politics, and sometimes political parties will use the back door to support unpopular issues, because the front door is open to public viewing and criticism.

For example, during the 2008 election campaign, why Obama and McCain didn't debate the important illegal emmigrants issue?

And by the way, I'm not going to talk like Ann Coulter...Canada did not deployed any troops in Iraq, but we had Canadian military personnel in Iraq during and after the Invasion.

For example...we had JTF2 members and snipers "in-training" in Iraq. I'm sure you understood the meaning of my quotations.

to pahoa...not so in all cases. The LT. is in a branch of the Army where promotions are slotted and allocated. I was a 2nd Lt. for a year. Just after that I got 1st Lt...Captain came 3 years later, major only took me 6 more years.then 6 or so to Lt.Colonel. but I held that rank a long time before going "full bird" and that was my rank at retirement with 3 years as a EM/NCO (E-6) and 31 as an officer...Promotions come often depending on your branch within the Army, its needs,I was needed because I was Infantry/Airborne and a Ranger during some years when people were shunning it as a career... but people (civilian and uniformed) /politics/assignments and performance all enter into the calculus.I could have stayed another ten years and never got a star..its a system, it works, but its not just "time in grade" that moves you along.

Um... Why would you expect other countries to aid you in Iraq? It's one thing that the UN couldn't stop you from invading - Fine, you are very powerful, we get it. But to assist you? How would that make any sense?

Canada is in Afghanistan, where the actual terrorists were holed up. Waiting for you guys to find your way to the right war zone, six years later.

Silly American right-wingers.

Since letting gays in the military in israel how many wars have they won without question. Look at the 1967 six day war where they had to fight from all positions they won because of high morals meaning no gay.

silly right wingers?

I wish you guys had taken care of Afghanistan while you were there. We wouldn't be sending another 26,000 troops for a total of 68,000 to do what you were supposed to do. go figure!
