I have a climbing trip scheduled for Saturday OCT. 3rd – it is an excellent spot for beginners to find out what it feels like to actually climb a rock. One of my youngster friends that I have climbed with for 8 years or so has not been in a while and wants to get back some easy rock before we go out and hit the shit. I have all the gear needed for large groups and KIDS ARE WELCOME. The weight group is from 50 to 300 lbs. Not discriminating here just stating the facts of legal’s on gear. Even if someone wants to come and watch that is fine. You do need be okay physical shape but not superman. All laws of gravity apply – the more you weigh the harder it is to hold your weight. Women are usually better as first timers because they actually use their legs. The small male mind thinks it has to use all upper body and tries to be macho. DIAFF
The area is Chestatee wildlife mgmt area just the other side of Dahlonega from Roswell! (close to destiny and suzukiridergirl?) . There are some great waterfalls and swimming and even cliff jumping, for those who might not want to rock climb. You will need to wear clothes appropriate for hiking and bring a picnic lunch and plenty of water. Alcohol is aloud in the area but not on my trips till all climbing is done for the day!
The current list is…
Rockgar – Gary
Trent - my youngster friend - 20 or so.
Georgiajoe - Joe and he may bring his 5 year old twins!

• There are yellow jackets in the area – so if you have an allergy – please make sure to have your epi-pen with you – I used to carry one but used the last one and I do not have a prescription. I was firefighter for ten years and am trained in first aid and high ropes rescue. It is a safe environment =, although there are always hazards when you adventure out in the woods. The most dangerous thing you will do this day – drive to and from the event! Hope to see some of you try!

Yea if the mountains aren't under water by then I'm going. Not sure about the kids yet but I may bring a friend. She doesn't climb and I'm positive she doesn't jump off perfectly good cliffs. She can stand at the bottom and break my fall.

would love to have ya des

and Joe - I filmed a reality tv pilot where we took people out for different reasons and then tried to talk them into climbing - so you never know if she'll climb or not! I do a lot of education on systems and EQ - to make people feel good about putting their life in my hands!

Hi Gary,

Is it okay to wear regular hiking boots? Mine aren't the best and not sure how they will be climbing.

I have several extra shoes - usually a pair that will fit or at least close - hiking boots are fine - the walk in is only - about 200 yards!

Sounds like fun Gary. I work on Saturdays though, so will have to catch you another time. I did find out that my boys can earn a climbing/hiking badge for boy scouts, so I may be hitting you up for a little help.

I would love too since I've quit smoking and now trying to get in shape but my son has a baseball game Oct.3 and this birthday is Oct.4 so that weekend would be out for me.

I'm pretty much out of shape so if I ever get to go I'll probably die on the side of the cliff. Just leave me there for the buzzards to pick at.

Maybe you can make the next trip - you do not have to be in super great shape to play and have a good time - If someone likes it and wants to progress - then shape starts to become a factor - the youngest person I've taken - 4 years old - all my kids and 2 of my Grandkids plus a few more! the oldest person I've taken - 82 years old - he was in pretty good shape and had a good time - he said he just wanted to say he did it and then we took some great pics and he gave framed copies to all of his great grandchildren! Hilarious!

I dont know,we had fire in Cherokee one year and I still almost froze!
Me and one of the guys tried to wrap some rocks in newspaper or cloth and put it near the fire like we thought they did in the olden days, for heat...but all it did was stink and smoke.
I was going to put it in my tent! Guess we should have left the wrappings off.
How did they do the rock thing in the old days...for heat?
And didnt they use to put them under their mattress?!

Yeah,well the ground is cold!!!!!!!!
Even with layers of clothes on...LOL.

I camped out in early March one year...I was so tired of being couped up inside,so I just did it.
But...as honest as I sometimes am...I have to tell you....

I took an electric blanket

And...I took a lounge chair off the porch, with me,and put the sleeping bag in the chair, then the electric blanket on top of me....good cheap idea huh?
It was just me and my dog that went.
I caught fish and cleaned them and actually ate them.
