| I think it will be wonderful to have it back...you live in Boise,so you have it easier to travel...Our airport only has flights to SLC,Utah..so unless we drive to Boise and leave our car at the airport,or take a bus...besides that I love the train..brings back wonderful childhood memories....and I know I will be using it..

| I have to agree! I think it would be good for Idaho....I will be glad to see to come. Since our area does not have much means of travel.

| Well it is pretty mixed in facts from what I see and have looked at for AMTRAK to return where it would be cost effective for all.
What the issues I have observed on the net discussions on it are;
- Tracks in Boise alone are in disrepair and haven’t been maintained for 10 years.
So they compare the repair work needed to placing connecting dollar bills lenght wise on the track to show what the total cost would entail to fix that issue.
- Boise City owns the Depot and trains conflict with weddings and parties.
- Diesel fuel costs have tripled in 10 years.
So unless it is a hybrid train that would use either electric along with diesel the operating costs might see it fail to lure someone to use it consistantly.
- Wage and benefit packages for Amtrak staff are much higher than 10 years ago.
- ALL of the passenger facilities on the line are closed.
- Trains are a slow and costly means of travel in the sparsely populated Western spaces.
- Support for trains is based on nostalgia, not common sense and economics.
- Pork barrel politics is selfish and not in the best national interest of America.
- It makes much more sense to subsidize Greyhound to offer transport to rural areas.

| I understood it would be federal money to subsidize ..we might as well get our share.Too bad for Boise's weddings and parties .I'm sure there are other venues ...or scheduling.Yes,deisel has gone up,but the last time I checked Greyhound busses were deisel...As for being slow..the last time I took Amtrac it was 90 minutes faster than Greyhound, and 20$ cheaper ...What services do the bus provide ? Last time I checked,it was a rest-room...which I'm sure Amtrac still has...

| Thank you for updating me on the expenses of this.
I think that a 3 day weekend would be nice to ride the AMTRAK
but then I wonder when I get to the desination how do I get around.
Kind of like a person coming to Boise, once you get off at the depot
does a bus pick you up? I have no idea.
