i just want to warn a lot of you single lonely people such as i to look out for fake profiles! i met a very handsome man on here about going on two weeks and hesaid he was a construction worker working down in nigeria, well when i first saw his email i got honest and upfront with him about what i heard about dating scammers! well he got my trust up and i was stupid to give him my phone number! after talking only a week he is now going back over there? i asked him at first if he was real! he probably lied and now my heart is broke as wel as me being stupid enough to give my number to him, even though he never asked!i am a very poor woman taken for granted!

Don't beat yourself up about it, just remember to not do it again, and have your number changed asap.

I only respond to men from my area. However, I hear from Nigerians, occasionally, and just delete them. I think it's always risky, connecting with someone from a long distance. I figure there are men nearer who are just as available. But, you are not alone! Happens to men and women all the time. Scammers can be very convincing. Just feel lucky you didn't give him money! At least, I hope you didn't!!

You can educate yourself by reading safty precautions here and elswhere.

Not very smart to give out personal info soon...get his number if you want to make contact ...THEN use a throw away cellphone to call him...!!!..not your hard line or personal cell!

This is not a Sears Store...

Well dear don't knock at yourself too hard I and 3 other ladies where being scammed. But I caught on really quick and led him on to get what information I could get on him. Then I emailed the other three ladies to let them know what was going on. Then I wrote Dustin and told him what this guy was up to and how many ladies he had on the string. I gave him names of the ladies and the guys name. Dustin turned him in and he is no longer with us on here he was taken off. Any guy or gal asking for important information and private e-mails address then starting to ask for money watch out. This one was in love with us and wanted to get married to each of us so he told us. I know I'm not bad looking but I not stupid either and naive as he thought I was and I nailed him. We ladies need to stick together and help each other out!

You are very fortunate. He can't do much with just a phone number. Did you give him your full name also? You may want to change your number if it will make you feel safer.
With your number he can get your home address. More than likely he will attempt to do a phone scam on you. He'll try to get you to phone him through a foreign phone exchange. This exchange will charge you hundreds of dollars for their services and add them to your phone bill. The phone company will in tell you that you owe the money as the exchange is a legitimate business.

Here are some rules if you feel you are getting scammed:

1. Never ever send them money for anything. They will have all sorts of sob stories that will sound reasonable.

2. Don't give them personal information. They will use this in an attempt to bill you for merchandise they receive.

3. Don't open any of their E Mails that have attachments on them. They can infect your computer and disable systems. Then they will try do do all sorts of nasty stuff. Like access your computer for bank records, passwords or anything else they can use to get your assets. If you make them mad they will infect your computer with viruses and worms.

4. Break off communications as soon as you expect that they may be a scammer.

5. Leave all baiting or playing with them to the experts. All this will do is expose you more. Do a search (Google) for scams to learn more. If you feel the need to get even report them to 419eater.com. They have guys there that go after these people.Y

6. If you feel the need to phone them, don't use a credit card to pay for the call.
Get a cheap disposable phone that you can refill with minutes. That way you are only out what you have paid for in advance minutes costs.

YOU SHOULD EXPECT THIS GUY TO CALL YOU AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. JUST SAY BYE AND HANG UP ON HIM. DO NOT ACCEPT ANY REVERSE CHARGE CALLS FROM ANYONE YOU DON'T KNOW.

I hope this helps.

Girl there's scam artists everywhere & more then often its not that easy 2 detect them. A gf of mine was hit on by a nigerian or claiming 2 be nigerian he may not have but he stole alot of money frm her & worse she allowed him 2 bullshit her time & time again ... now that she's had time 2 re=think whats been going on with this dude ... she's moved on & now he's calling her emailing her she just deletes its taken her 6 months but she's finally there its sad 2 hear others being treated in such a way but rest assured there just rewards will be exactly that
