here u go, heather, here's one for u

and then one for me.....(i like to play, dont u??)

PETRON, i have to disagree w/u on that point that men r much simpler when it comes to wanting things. i have had my fair share of expensive items that a "man" wanted and not just once, but quite a few times. its just a matter of different wants betw men and women. thats all.

but ill be glad to buy your drink for ya....that is much simpler!!

hey, CIN, u missed a hell of a trip this was.....and sadly, it wasnt about Vegas weddings, but only for a brief moment!!

TOMMY, i think u r right....women r emotional creatures we r and i think when receiving that diamond or any other type of sentiment it might be, it goes straight to the heart if it is sincere and the "item" is only a bonus!

(im happy w/some darn flowers picked for me from the yard....cuz im a flower girl too)

AGAIN love cannot be bought! the richest ppl in the world can be lonely, sad ppl w/out s/o to love and if they dont love themselves!!

u men can cut yourselves some slack....that is the good ones out there!!

I have to admit. I enjoy wondering through hardware stores or Sears or sports stores with a man who is excited about all the cool things to look at. (I like wandering through a clothing store with him if that excites him, too.)

now off to find THE ONE who's going to buy me a new air compressor

or better yet... I'll just buy it myself and find someone to share life with ...

You are absoulutely right!! Besides Canada is the USA's biggest trading partner. If you buy a diamond. Buy one from Canada. Hmmmmmmmmmm...... I think I said this earlier in this thread.

Really when I bought a ring some years ago. Yes it cost me an arm and a leg. But when I think about it. It's what I wanted at the time. I loved the woman. It's sad that love can fade. I did tell her to sell it and hopefully she did. If she did'nt that's all good too. That was just a symbol of my love for her and she happend to cheat on me and I had to get a divorce from her!!

Bottom line rings are a symbols of our love. It's tradition, it's symbolism, and it's something that shows that we care. Being able to remember the joy of giving and recieving that ring or shiny object..... Well that's something that can be hard to hold onto. It is possible though. I think we just have to find the right person.

My parents have been married for 40 years now. A relationship is'nt based on the size of the diamond, but the unconditional love that the two people have for each other. It can be tricky to keep the love alive. Just like all things in life it takes effort, forgivness, passion, and an undying love for each other. It takes wanting to make each other happy and helping each other throught the valleys and peaks of life. Diamonds will never be able to do this. It's the human spirit, love, commitment, and a love of life that keeps bonds like a loving relationship together.

you had me at "Bottom line rings are a symbols of our love."

I don't give a crap about a diamond. My sister is MY BEST FRIEND. She listens to my problems And can hug me and make me feel better. To me, thats worth more than any material possesions. Caring and kindness weighs in at more than the biggest diamond.

i absolutely agree w/u here....

i just think ppl dont realize that this thread was meant to be in humor really about jewelry given when being w s/o and when is the right time, thats all.

ppl took it and twisted it into a "material" thread and it just got out of hand....but i still have had my fun moments in it....and im glad.

(sigh) seems like i still need to periodically put my foot down!!

WOW one goes away and one returns, life is good.

Mr Rush, I was trying to be good but sometimes oh well you know.

Noswal, women can buy their own stuff but even the richest of the rich loves to be treated like a lady.

In town their is a beautiful red head with lots of money. She has not had a date here in over a year, a lot of the guys here know her worth and won't asked her out. She is pretty easy going a just loves to hangout. I bump into her all of the times and she is always nice. I asked one of her friends the other day what was up and she said the guy here figure that she has so much money that they could not keep up and they are afraid she would just say no.

For myself jewelry is definitely something I have to wait to purchase.
I see it as a very personal and memorable thing. I think alot of research needs to be done before hand. I want it to go with her personality and well as her likes. Yet be as original as my reason for getting it.

I have the memories of the search for both the information and the right piece.
The one that still makes me smile and even waters my eyes up was the time a had a tennis bracelet delivered at dinner. It was as though the bracelet was the focal point of her main course.

I had know this girl for about a year, and we had gone on intermittent dates. She was beautiful and demure so I started asking her to things like weddings and I referred to her as my "nice date", but I did not think that she was interested. One night the band I was playing in played a party for a birthday and she told ME that she wanted to be with me "steady". I told her I thought we should give it a try.

So, two weeks later I took her to dinner at a nice restaraunt in Marina Del Rey. There was a flower girl selling roses and when she came by our table I declined. After the girl left I looked at my girlfriend and said, "I wanted the first rose I gave you to last forever" and gave her a small wrapped box.

Inside was a delicate but not expensive gold pendant and necklace that looked a lot like this:

It does not have to be expensive to lay a solid sentimental ground stone that can be cherished throughout a relationship.

That's kind of how I roll.

True Story
