| So my question to all is Why do people think if a woman dates men of another race than she only dates men from other races?
And Do whites guys think that some women put a certain vibe out that they wouldn't be interested if a white guy approached them?
I'm curious, so please comment

| Ok well maybe I'm the only one here now here dates outside my race??? Or maybe some of you just don't agree with the entire issue but if that's the case then say something no offense here. My father doesn't believe in mixing races but he has accepted my bi-racial children.

| LOL no. I don't look at race. I look at 3 things.
1) Are they attractive to me?
2) Can I stand being around them?
and most importantly:
3) Can they keep up with me on every level?

| O kbut do you think that if a white woman is approached by other races then thats intimidating and make a white man less likely to approach her too?

| Actually, that sort of cuts both ways. I've dated interracially and I used to get a lot of strange looks from white females. My girl friend at the time was black and when we were together, we used to get a lot of weird reactions. On the other hand, I have known a few white females who dated a lot of black guys. Those girls most of the time looked the same, almost always very heavy, blond hair, and they seemed to give off an unpleasant vibe. I have however known a white black couple who were great. But sometimes it seems that people seem to want to "prove" something when they date interracially and it's not just natural and easy but rather harsh in some way. Of course that's only a particular type I have seen.

| Good question. I think most men are intimidated by women anyway, so anything that may add to that intimidation is just razor wire at the top of the fence. And honestly, I find it very strange what men find intimidating. I used to know guys who would wrestle alligators, yet they were terrified of asking a woman out. *shrug* But to answer your question, I'd say for most men, seeing a lot of men of ANY race approach a woman and keep getting turned down would be intimidating. Here's a thought; why don't YOU try approaching men that you find attractive?

| Stg!! I have an issue with that so called type that date black men because alot of white men don't care for and are actually quite rude to heavy women. They like the super skinny magazine cover girls and at least black men appreciate a curvy woman. Every woman wants a man that makes them feel good about themselves.

| I don't have a problem approaching any one and I do iff I feel an attraction but then alot of the times I get the I thought you only date black guys comment.
I have actually approached a white guy and in conversation I mentioned that my kids are bi-racial and the guy just got up and walked away!!!

| Oh, no doubt at all! I agree. I happen to be a white guy who only dates larger women--that's one of the reasons why I like black women--cuz they're built!! What I was talking about is a "type" that I have encountered on more than one occasion. I mean there are tons of situations out ther, but honestly, that type the I referred to is a real type that has even been spoofed on nightly comedy shows. I was merely trying to answer your question by telling you that not only do men react badly to this sort of thing, but I myself have experienced it with white females when I was with a black woman. People, not genders, get really weird about inter-racial dating. And sometimes the people involved in those relations get a little weird about it too.

| I was with my kids father for 7 years so I encountered all the reactions good and bad and that's why I started this thread so that I and others can maybe gain a little more understanding.
Believe it or not most of the worst reactions are from black women. I don't know if they feel like we are trying to steal their men or what but like in chicago I didn't want to go to some neighborhood reseraunts because I was worried about what someone would do to my food just because I was with a black guy!!!

| Inter-racial dating has been taboo in the realms of societal norm. Some men think, "Once you've gone inter-racial you never come back." That's basically their way of saying they don't want to be around a person that has dated outside of their race.
Many have been brought up that way from birth. They have lived in a prejudice environment all their lives and its difficult to change the beliefs that have been instilled in them since birth.
As the times change so will society's outlook on this subject. Unfortunately, you are one of the people on the forefront of this change. A pioneer of sorts. I'm glad your father has accepted your children. I'm sure that was hard for him as he is probably "old school'.
You just need to keep forging forward and don't let society get you down. There is someone out there that will accept you for who you are. Just be yourself and don't ever play the race card.
Best Wishes And Merry Christmas!

| Oh, I know exactly what you mean. I remember walking through one of tha malls around here with my girlfriend at the time and the white women looked like they wanted to kill us. We were even treated rudely as hell in some of the stores--by the freakin' clerks--most of whom were little white girls from the suburbs. Most of the black guys were totally cool with it but on occasion we'd get some negative reaction from them too. But not very often. It got to the point that I felt more comfortable in her circles than I did my own.

| That's so true it does get to the point where your not even really comfortable with your own racial group because they can be so rude and unaccepting. That to me is crazy!!!
