Ever hear the phrase 'I get moody sometimes'?
What are some of the things that can send you into your dark, moody corner? How long do you generally stay there?

Menopause makes you have mood swings. Also, people that are Bi-polar, and don't take their meds.. I worked with some one like that.. Whoooh.

What pisses me of, are Lars....And, I could list some more things but, will refrain.

Well, I know what typically sets me off into a moody vengence is when I want something (anything) and I haven't figured out a way to get it yet. Also, if I haven't gotten enough 'me' time, or if I find myself having to stay in one place too long.

Also, the thought of only getting vacation once a year for a mere 14 days! Damn, I mean, there's so many places I want to go for an extended period of time, and only 14 days once a year! It's crazy...

Mood swings?

I don't have them anymore....

why?

Because I am driving this bus called me... no one else, so I choose what to be reactive to, in the measured amount that I choose to be.

In these forums for example...the amount of times people misconstrue what and how I communicate, with me either being angry, bitter, or just downright nasty....

and yet, sat here in my home, doing my thing, I am as content as a cat in the sun.... no moods... no reactions..

HOWEVER... I will react to unkindness, violence, aggression in front of me.... it isn't a mood... it's a reactive response to something.

If I had to have a mood.... it would be called calm.

I loved how you phrased that.
I find I, too, react to external indicators, but it's usually because I have to get to that place you mentioned: inner calm. I guess I'm even willing to go into a 'cave' to find it, or to regain my balance, maybe.

I like the whole driving your own bus analogy, though. I'm going to remember that. Thanks.

I don't have mood swings...as in manic. I tend to be in an edgy mood when I feel my life is out of control and I have no way to fix it.

I've been known to go to dark places for a bit.

I do not throw tantrums in front of people, I have never yelled at a person or threatened them. But I have thrown tantrums by myself, very bad ones.

And I do get moody. But my moodiness is my world, no one elses'.

I wouldn't expect anyone to put up with my ills.

And likewise I would never subject someone to them.

If you are with a prince charming and this is going on then one conversation to correct it should be ample.

If it does not get corrected then dump him. And date me. Haha.

I think women need a setting on their profile to tell how bad their mood swings get at... certain times.

Anyway I really have mood swings if I haven't got enough sleep or someone really pushes me and pushes me. I let other people get to me too easily and trying to stop it. Although it's really human nature that if you're around people who are negative and depressed it's not exactly going to make you too happy yourself.

And by the way I can be anything. I've everything wrapped into one. I just act how I think situations warrant. I can act my age or if I'm dating someone 18 I can relate to her also. I can be very laid back or very nervous. It just depends on circumstances though. As long as nothing horrible happens and nobody is being rude to me and crossing lines then I am laid back and happy.

Excellent idea. I say you put that into site suggestions. I wouldn't mind having a little flag that I can throw up saying "Don't f**k with me today!"

Actually that is a better idea. I meant a rating on how bad she can get at her worst though. Some women can get scary. lol I wouldn't say I dated any who had "horrible" mood swings though.

But yeah as far as a "right now" mood that would be useful for the forum itself. Some sites use things like that. I did on my site until I upgraded some things and so had to take some things such as that out.

I don't have "certain times" anymore. Can't get by with that excuse.

I got into some pretty deep funk a couple of months ago when the neighbor decided to run over and kill my persian cats systematically.

But generally speaking my mood stays pretty much on the upbeat all the time if I can avoid toxic people bringing me down.

omg for REAL what's up with women holding grudges? I'm the type who likes to get things cool with people. I get over an argument almost IMMEDIATELY. I hate when others don't want to do that. I have several girls (exes and friends) who are holding grudges over minor things. One in particular even admits she holds grudges and says she doesn't want to but she can't control it. Sigh.

Tater - I see what you are trying to say and even agree that grudges are harmful to your psychological health.

But I can tell you that not everything is that simple, because if it was, we would all be very happy people.

I can't see how we could be friends with a rapist for example, and I personally, could not forgive someone who intentionally "hurt my animals" (unless it was purely an accident and they were genuinely sorry), poisoned me, slandered me or altered my direction in life through their manipulative means.

I think that if someone is to heal from experiences such as the above, that they need "distance" from the situation or the person. Placing the antagoniser in front of the face of the grieved, will only cause more suffering and is actually very cruel.

I believe that "time heals all things" if we are allowed time to truly heal.

And you can easily see (if anyone is intelligent enough), who maintains the negativity....HOW ? They keep perpetuating the same rubbishy talk (or actions) over and over again...and these are the ones who are the trouble-makers. Not the people who keep trying to move away from calamity.

As far as moodswings go OP, I think I am ordinarily an even-keeled and calm person. but abuse towards me will only get it in return, as will "baiting" (ie., victimisation or harassment). If you get enough of it, surely, it must have some kind of a negative effect on your psyche.

My moods depend on my level of tiredness mostly. And though I don't have that "monthly" schedule for an excuse sometimes you are just having a bad day. BUT having a bad day does not give me or anyone else the right to be rude or mean to anyone. So I may be moody but I do control them pretty well in that sense. And the amount of time that I withdraw into my little "happy place" until I feel in control of myself again varies. Usually though once I get some rest from being so tired I start feeling better in control again.

I have the same problems with people whith the work I do...

The one the gets me are the ones that want their vehicle fixed right then and there, and get mad at me cause I ask em too make a schedule too come in for like the following week, cause I am booked up with work.....

Or the ones that don't think they need too have an appt...that they can just drop off their vehicle and expect me too fix it that day....

My guess is that just as many men are moody as women. Women seem to be more tolerant and understanding and we probably don't notice it as much as men do when women are having an off day.

I think we just learn to absorb it, deal with it and let it go as we age. Yanno, pick the hills we want to die on instead of letting every little thing get to us. It's when we hold on to it and stew about it forever that gets us in trouble. Life is too short to let things bother you long term.

i get moody very often- im getting used to be by my self as a single mother-

today i just want to relax, my ex came home and took the rest of the stuff he left behind when he decided to leave me for a younger girl- i cant relax because my kids wont let me, i have a 2 year old boy and a 7 month old boy- i know that the best thing was for him to leave, he had no love for me and i deserve better- cant lie it hurts-
