for me it would be losing my mom at 15. It taught me to cherish life and live it to its grandest, because you might not wake up tomorrow.

For me it would be surviving cancer.
If you have had it you have gone through the stages of dying.
If you survive, as have I, you find the little things mean more than the big one's.
When you are facing death, you have to take inventory of your life and see where you stand with your maker.
Have you served him well?
People don't really realize how they are living their lives day to day consciously until they are faced with the possibility of not waking up again.
When you do wake up and are surprised you are still here, you give thanks for that "one more day".
You are then faced with the decision of what will you do with your "one more day".
That turns into two days, then three, etc. etc.
What you have decided is important in your life is now your guide for your future.
Bullshit is not a part of mine. Life is to short and precious to waste on bullshit.
If you had Christ in you life before you survived cancer then you were lucky.
If the Devil had control of your thought processes when you were lying on your death bed and survived, you have a choice to make about who you will serve for the rest or you're "one more days".
If you use any of Satan's tools as weapons against anyone else in life, then you are serving him and he is in control of your thoughts.
Satan's tool are the twelve mind control techniques know to the mental health profession and also the one's we are not aware of. If you use any of these tools, then your master is evil.
Light is my guide, divinity is my goal.

Recently realizing that my battle with cancer is still not over I have realized that family is the only thing that can really be there for you. I think the fear of not being with my kids for many more christmas's has made me a much better mother, sister, and daughter.

Have a Merry Christmas everyone and an even better 2008.

Funny how hardships can improve us as people....No details but the same is true for me. My hardships have made me appreciate more, they slow you down and give you time to think and reflect.

the mother my daughter never got a chance to meet...she was killed when my daughter was 4 months old.....so it has been my daughter and the support of all my sisters to assist and teaching me the proper way to raise my child....without them, i would have been lost...so thanks to all my sisters.....

When my first husbnd became disabiled after his heart surgery. I've gone into the details before and really don't want to dwell on this today..but, like Superscreename said, hardships DO make you appreciate more. They also force you to grow up fast, mature, become more responsible, and value even the small things in life.
Going through a 2nd divorce that I didn't know was coming, also helped me too.
Guess When you hit the lows in life, anything better is a high!
