| If you meet a woman on an internet dating site and she says she would like to "go out" with you but is not interested in a date. She is just interested in "hanging out" with you, what does that mean? Should I pay for the dinner and entertainment? OK, I'm a guy that somewhere has lost my understanding with meeting women after 21 yrs of marriage. In my teen's and 20's when I ask a girl out she either said yes or no, not yes but this will not be a date but I will hangout with you. Somebody please tell me what this means.

It means she's hanging out with you for an ego boost only.
No, you should not pay for dinner in this scenerio. She said that she's not interested in a date. You two are hanging out right. You would be played for a sucker if you treated her all night.
You are right, things have changed a lot in the dating game. And if you are not on top of your game, you will get played, and she will tell her friends what a sucker you were.

| If a girl say's to me she just wants to "hang out" then I take that as she just wants to be friends. Treat it just lile a friendship. When I go out with my friends, If I feel like buying a round of drinks I do, and do they. It's nothing you keep track of, but if you start to feel a friend is just using you, pretty soon they become less of a friend. Just treat her like a friend, because that's all she wants is friendship.

| Yep...some will expect that you pay because they are players or naive and think "gentlemen" are supposed to do this. Myself, I just have to draw the line...no free dinners here. I don't even want to pay for the meal if I'm meeting someone for the first time and she's not interested in dating me. If she's not into a relationship then I definitely am not into her having a relationship with my money. Otherwise, if the game is on... I'll be the perfect gentleman and test her desire and ability to go dutch. I just want her to be totally comfortable and I've gotta be comfortable too....but, being used does not make me comfortable. I certainly have no problem paying if it is an honest date. I do know that some women just want someone to pick up the tab so they can go to a very nice restaurant so they can brag about going there.... I guess I'll just break their heart when the restaurant is Taco Bell....

| ..........or..........she might want to get a better feeling for you by just hanging out and doing nothing in particular. dating can be stressful and some people avoid the term...even if it's what you're really doing. by hanging out......the door is open at all times and no committment to a long 'date'. gotta run
