This may not go very far and soon slip off the bottom of the page because I think we may all believe the same.
From what I see we all have a concern for each other as well as our self being. Our concern for oneself is to is to be concerned for others. If I don’t agree with you, my life will be hell, if you don’t agree with me your life will be hell, I don’t want you to suffer hell, if your life is hell it affects ME and I don’t want my life to be hell.
Take out the Christian part of this next statement. My life is good, I want your life to be good also. I am concerned for your well being so I give you my opinion on what makes my life good. You may take it or leave it. I can’t speak for you, but deep down I think you are concerned with me, so you give what makes you feel god and present it to me, I can take it or leave it. In the depth it still boils down to me. How is that? If I can sway you into feeling good as I, then we are on the same mind level, your feeling good affects me I feel better. There again, affects ME. There is the factor of, you are believing in an allusion, (I am concerned for you because I don’t want you to be fooled)
We can argue points until all points are mute; then who is the victor?
So in long run; my concern for you affects ME; makes us seem sort of selfish.
I know that some will say “Stop being concerned for me, I can defend myself!”
In depth is that not part of your concern for me?
Now humor me one time, say this in voice.
Richard, don’t think like that, I don’t want you to be fooled and get hurt.
If I am out on a limb here and cutting on the tree side then ???

"Where love rules, there is no will to power; and where power predominates, there love is lacking. The one is the shadow of the other."-Carl Gustav Jung

I say, the more myopic the view , the narrower the wisdom from it.

To expect the impossible is psychotic delusion. So is ignoring the possible . And not

testing the impossible for it's possiblility, is just intellectually lazy or cowardly.

Hey Rich and Skunk....Happy New Years!!!! Rich,I think the question you ask....."Do the concerns we have for eachother, outweigh the differences we have against on another"......is a great one!!!

I can only speak for me when I say that the "care and concern" I have for my friends here on DHU,certainly does play a large role in how I react and communicate in the forums. There are times when I will read a post and think to myself...what a stinkin idiot that person is for saying that....but will react in a softer kinder way to not hurt their feelings.

Some may accuse me of not being "honest",but for me,I believe that there is such a thing as being "brutally honest"and I have a problem with that! Unless someone else is negatively affected by that persons words or actions,I will generally try to be nice in my responses and privately let the person know how I dont agree and will ask for perhaps a better explanation of what they were trying to say.

Anyhoot...thats just me!!LOL.....peace

So glad to see you back Mary. Everyone was glad to hear from you when you sent email as they were all worried. I know cause they were sending messages to me asking about you.LOL

I object to the statement that I am not as happy or content or alive or kind or gentle or loving as you are Rich because you are christian. I can tell you having been a christian 2/3 of my life, that I am much more of all those things than I ever was as a christian.

As a christian I insulted every person that I preached to by assuming that they were not as acceptable to god as I was and that is what we are taught as followers.

Hey Queen...its good to be back, thanks for the welcome! I wanted to comment on what you said....."As a christian I insulted every person that I preached to by assuming that they were not as acceptable to god as I was and that is what we are taught as followers."

I honestly believe that most Christians are not teaching(theses days)that Christians are better or more accepted by God and are in fact, trying to get away from that old stigma!

As followers of Christ,we are now taught that He loves and treats everyone equal, regardless of ones Religious or non Religious beliefs. As a Christian(of sorts(hey Last))I could give a rats patunias what anyone believes,as long as it is based on common courtesy for all and if you throw in a little, love and kindness, you will certainly get my vote and attention!LOL.....peace

ps....hey Skunk,it did take me a while to "understand" you at times,but now that I do....Im hooked!!!LOL
