Its not a matter of him respecting you, you can not control someone else's behaviour. You need to respect yourself and recognize that you are worth much more than a half arse conversation that leaves you worthless which is why you're asking the question. Because you don't like how your feel afterwards, huh?
In order for your self worth to survive, you have to protect it, that is your duty to yourself. if you do not, it will mess with your head and you'll come back here whining and crying that he treated you like trash because you let him control your behaviour. Don't do it. Be your own best friend first.
