Reptiles and other herps routinely bury their eggs and leave the nests unattended and those eggs do indeed hatch.

i agree..but as for chickens..they arent known to bury their eggs...if he asked about reptiles....i wouldnt have posted the statement..lol..but being he asked abuot a chicken, it comes to mind

You are correct - I was completely zoning out the chicken part of his statement.

I still say the egg though.........all of the combinations in the dna strands, and the subsequent mutations thereof, occur within the egg.

Its my understanding that the eggs have been fertilized prior to being laid - but I've never raised chickens.
