Definitely call back. They sent you a letter of interest and now the ball is in your park. What happens next is up to you.

Been through several lay offs. It's a real blow financially and emotionally. My heart goes out to you.

Call them back, big Corporations are always looking for new people. It saves them money. I suggest you get the corp mindset and say whatever you think they want to hear. It's all about who you know and not what you know. Act like your boss is the smartest person in the world and don't let too many people know how much you really do know. Offer it as needed, but keep the best for later.

Trust no one. The person that befriends you first could be the bosses pet and he could be prepping you for backstabbing later. I know this sounds negative but I have worked for some of the top 3 corps in the world and that is how you get ahead. Ass kissing goes a lot further than hard work. Always support your boss 100% no matter how rediculous it seems. A positive attitude in the midst of a shower of crap is better than marrying the bosses daughter.... well almost... but you get my drift I'm sure.

Good benefits are hard to come by and insist that you get all you can in negotiations. If they are offering contract work all the above still applies as that is where they sort out the A##holes. Smile and get to know as many people as you can, that is the essence of corporate life. You never know who is going to help you the most, and they might want you on their team when they get the opportunity.

Good luck to you,

Copter

Of course, call them back and remember they called you, and they will be rewarded in the end, if they hire your wonderful self. Susan

Showing that you are interested really goes along ways in getting a job, so yes call them back. What have you got to lose? Think of what you could gain by calling them back.

Them sending you a letter stating their interest and asking you to call them?

Ditch it, they insulted you. If the company can't treat you like a human being and call you, then how do you think they are going to treat you when you need to have surgery to repair your body after they mess it up?

Meh, I hate companies that can't treat their employee's (even prospective employee's) like human beings. Even Wal-Mart knows how to pick up a phone, and they are one of the worst employers out there.

I mean if your strapped, call them, but if ya can get by then by all means find an employer that treats their employees like the people they are. A very wise man once told me 'either I can do the job myself and make alright money, or I can hire people to do it for me and make more money, think I'd rather hire people to do it for me. It's my employee's that take care of me, treat them good and get treated good myself.' Ehh I never had any complaints working for him, too bad his son wasn't as smart.

Edit: I should probably add that, most of the jobs I've gotten have been people walking up and asking me to work for them. So I really have no clue how hard it might be to get a job, they usually fall into my lap.

for Brocknct. what world do you live in? It would be nice if it worked that way, but it does'nt. Sometimes you have to kiss a little a** to get somewhere, that's way it called a competitive business. You know you can kiss a** and not really mean it. Being a tough guy will get you no where except where you probably don't want to be. HELLO

Ladyviolet, I respect your and everyonelses opinion, I just refuse to give in to the inhumanness of the world in which we live. Is it so wrong to expect people to treat human beings as human beings?

If your mother mailed you a 'canned' letter with her signature printed on and not written, and told you to call her...would you? I certainly wouldn't.

The best employers out there, know that they are nothing without their employees (and customers). So why take a job with a company that doesn't even see you as a worthy human being? There is a place and time for automation, employer-employee is not the place.
