| Nightowl....I don't think anyone should change anyone or anyones things unless they were moving in with you. It's your place not theres. I am sorry for your loss. It saddens me to hear about it. You hang in there, and find someone who excepts you for you. When you do see someone serious then you can make the changes together like the bed, that would be my first change.

Had a gal come into my apt. the other night, first thing she said was this needs to be moved so you have more room and next thing was this doesn't go with that,do you really need it.
I showed her to the door and said goodnight.
Stick to your guns.

| This seems to be a real issue for you,
I still can't help wondering what is realy going on, that every women you bring there feels uncomfortable.....ghosts.......maybe you are just less conventional about where you keep things and they have a hard time finding things, like if they cook for you and such. I was always of the mind that a women makes a home more livable, usually knowing more about such things like housework and cleaning and cooking etc. (like the term says-Housewife).
Maybe if you warn them upfront about your (possibly) unconventional ways, most polite women would not make such hurtful or detrimental comments.

| I think it is very dumb that a woman would do that. If you get to that point (moving in) she should have no issue with it. Its the same whether it be a house or an apartment. Oh, and are you gonna burn each others beds and buy a new one (because each of you have had a person in your beds). I think its a little rude that she would say that to you.

| I think you have the right to keep things the way you want. After its not like she is competing with a living person. I don't think you should have to give up or change anything unless you are getting married. Then you would want to make the home yours. Its hard enough to lose someone you love without someone trying to come in a take away the memories and things you have. I say be the king of your castle show the women the door. Stormi

| I'm out of your age group, but if you don't mind my opinion.....it is your house, and however you have it decorated is what you are comfortable with. If a woman you are seeing has a problem with it, its her problem. You like it, and as long as its not a shrine, pictures everywhere of your wife, tell her to deal or move on. You lost your wife to death, and if these women you see care enough about you to want to be with you, there shouldn't be any bad feelings. I do hope you have gotten a new bed tho....not the whole bed, just mattress and boxspring. YES, you are the King of Your Castle...if you find a new Queen, just add some new stuff. Long Live The King

| Personally, I think that if a woman says she's uncomfortable in your house because it was the house you purchased with your now deceased wife, she is insecure and has other issues. A person should never have to give up something from their past for another person. That is YOUR house and as long as you make your woman feel comfortable in your house and don't make her feel like an intruder it shouldn't even be an issue.

| I feel for you. My ex didn't start that stuff until after we were married. Then over the next few years she systematically dismantled my life. Well, at least in the material sense. OK, maybe on a few other levels as well.
You can do with out all that. Be thankful.

| You can't completely erase that portion of your life, and you are entitled to your memories, but you are also entitled to a future. Any woman you choose to get involved with should respect your memories, and agree to help you make some more. Keep your house.
