...storm...i looked briefly at Oahspe decades ago...do not remember much about it...this book does look interesting...

THE AQUARIAN GOSPEL OF JESUS THE CHRIST
By Levi H. Dowling

http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/agjc/index.htm

"This book is an extensive reworking of the Jesus story with strong Theosophical and Spiritualist influences. Of interest is the attempt to fill in the two decade gap in the Jesus's traditional biography. According to Dowling, Jesus spent a lot of time in the mystical East where he learned esoteric methods from the masters, while rebelling against the caste system. The narrative, unfortunately, has numerous historical inconsistencies, including Jesus meeting historical figures who lived hundreds of years before or after the first century, e.g. Mencius. The book has Jesus studying in India in the Orissa area; while this is an historically important ceremonial area, it didn't come into prominence until nearly a millenium later.

None of this lessens the charm or the esoteric insight of this book. Nor should its subterranean impact on popular spirituality in the United States be underestimated. The Aquarian Gospel was rediscovered during the spiritual ferment of the 1960s; a beat-up paperback copy of this book was de rigeur in every hippie pad, and it no doubt played an unsung role in naming the 'Age of Aquarius'. The Aquarian Gospel was probably one of the catalysts for the 'Jesus freak' movement. Although they would never admit it, many a staid evangelical Christian probably had their spiritual awakening while browsing this book in a head shop."

Maybe you guys need to read a bible instead of all these other books seeing how it is susposed to be the word of god.I understand someone has rewriten the bible or they teach it differently now as not to focus on hell as much but more so the love of god and what he has done for us.I think that this may be the reason more people are turning away from god, because they have nothing to fear with the new way of teching. As for these other religions i dont know much about them other then they focus on makeing promises that they think the people want.I guess christianity also makes a promise of everlasting life after death.

All religions are a control devise to distract your attention away from your very own inherent power by using fear to enslave your mind, so you don't figure out that you don't need them to tell you what the hell to think and do, so that you could actually walk around free in your life without their mixed up fairytale.

They are all about control, they are not inplace to take you to God or heaven. It is an obvious mastermind manipulation con game from hell to drain you of all your energy to take you as far away as possible, from the one who actually does have all the power, you. You came to this earth fully complete unto yourself to do the deal and you do not need anyone to save you or fix you, because the God force in the universe does not make junk. They could not ever let you find that out, so they made up one hell of a story for the sheeple that has been passed down through the ages by the controlling elites of the world.

They do not have your best interest at heart and they absolutely need you to give all of your power away to something outside of yourself in order to control you to get their game to work, so you cannot operate as the powerful spiritual being that you were intended to be. If you ever figured that out, your rulers know damn good and well that their reptillian satanic ritualistic blood thirsty game would be over in an instant, finished, done deal. I guarantee.

You fools can believe any damn thing you want, that does not change the fact that you are still mind controlled programmed enslaved fools for believing in their bullshit to steal your very life. You are suppose to be grown adults, though you could have fooled me, because you all act like programmed idiots defending the biggest lie that ever lived on the face of the earth.

Skunk, I agree with you, I don't see the Aquarian gospel as being anything but a good read and one which gives another and more realistic and logical explanation of the myth. The contradictions in all aspects of any of the jesus stories, are there to see, but when you correlate the story with the known facts and equate it to other ideologies and historical records of all the societies of those times, then you can work out where it all comes from. Never have I said there are no good messages in the NT, or any other philosophical or ideological works. The problem is people don't see these things for what they are, works of knowledge, and not things to grovel, in or worship. They all talk of taking personal responsibility, yet the followers do exactly the opposite.

I couldn't have spent so long within the church to not be effected by it and believe in some truth within the ideology. But as it is with all things in reality, they are only relevant for the time, after that, they are knowledge and lessons to be learnt, not to worship or restrict ourselves from moving forward in our lives.

I read the Aquarian gospel during the time of my leaving the church, which took a number of years. I had read Oahspe before that period and been instructed in the church viewpoint, I found it hard to dismiss the amount of real care for all life it exhibited. When I read the Aquarian gospel and put them together and thought of them in reality, I realised what their message really was and not what I had been programmed to believe.

When talking about the jesus freak movement, are you talking about the musicals, cult stage shows and psychedelic era in the late 1960-70's. I found that a very enlightening time, which started me on the road to where I am now.

..storm, thought you might like this link: Excerpt from, "The First Jesus Freak"
"A pot-smokin’, LSD-droppin’ seeker turned Calvary Chapel into a household name. So why is Lonnie Frisbee missing from church history?"
By MATT COKER

"Lonnie Frisbee put the freak in Jesus freak. With his long brown hair, long craggily beard, dusty clothing, scent of Mary Jane and glint of his last LSD trip in his eyes, he showed up out of nowhere, at the height of the ’60s, literally on Chuck Smith’s doorstep. Smith was just another conservative Orange County pastor. "

Skunkbreath....I really enjoyed reading this site that you posted for Storm....http://www.ocweekly.com/features/features/the-first-jesus-freak/19081/

I really enjoyed the 60's, I never got into drugs but I certainly was about peace and loving your sisters and brothers. It was a beautiful time and I am glad I was a part of it. Reading the article reminded me of my son who was a hippie back with the Grateful Dead Group. My son followed the Dead for 4 years, I never knew if he was alive or dead because I only heard from him maybe every 3 months. I remember the day Jerry Garcia died, I sat down and cried...I didn't know the Dead all that well but I knew how my son loved Jerry Garcia. After 4 years my son finally came home ............ My son had beautiful long brown hair with a few dreadlocks and brought home a beautiful girl with beautiful long red hair with a few dreadlocks. I was so happy to finally have him back home that I welcomed them both with open arms. I am a conservative Christian and they both were flower children, all about Love and Peace. Their God was the love of nature and helping your fellow man. It was a trying time in my life but I cherish it to this day. The girl eventually went back to her west coast way of life and my son stayed with me. I think we both think about her every now and then and pray she is doing well. Christianity is all about Love, if you have Love in your own heart, it is easy to love your fellow brothers and sisters. God Bless Skunkbreath, have a great day.....Dolly Skunkbreath why that name?

G'day Skunk that was an interesting read thanks, it reminds me of some of the happenings down here during that time,as I was going in the opposite direction as Lonnie and I do remember reading or hearing about him. It just goes to show where the mentality of this belief is, as they first lauded then denounce him. The hypocrisy that goes with these people is almost unbelievable until you see how unbelievable the belief is. You can see the mass reactions and effects on people within all superstitions, medicine men, witch doctors, shamans all wield this power over the surreptitious and can talk them into losing control, isn't that why they are called sheeples. I had my time in the hippy spiritual drug scene during my transition and it was an enlightening and enjoyable time. When I look back at it, I learnt and experienced a great deal in a short time which was a steep learning curve and doesn't seem to have stopped. I find it difficult to understand how weak people are to be controlled by ideology and the nut cases that preach it. But I do remember vaguely being that way myself to a great degree until I awoke.

Bloody awful day down, here, it's supposed to be our summer, a huge storm has snuck up from the Antarctic and is hitting us with high winds rain and sleet, which may turn into snow. Yesterday it was 25 deg C this morning 6 deg C and a fire going, just another excuse to sit on my bum unless I get called out.

Dolly, great account, thanks for describing your son and events with you and his girlfriend. yes, there was deep idealism and hope -- prompted by the Viet Nam war and what it told us about our country. But the task of transforming the country was huge, and many drifted away into 'bringing home the bacon.' Now, when many of the people of the 60s have 'made it' there is a reassertion of that idealism. May it bring great things to our country, and to the world!

You are a thoughtful and generous person, and it is a delight that you have joined the discussion here.

redddolly:
Christianity is all about Love, if you have Love in your own heart, it is easy to love your fellow brothers and sisters

Sheesh, sorry redddollyChristianity is not about love, Christianity is about blood sacrifice and they need you to be their sacrificial lamb. That is why you are made to feel guilty if you don't pass the basket. That is why God will strike you down if you don't get on your knees and 'beg' for forgiveness. Christianity is only disquised with a few sprinkles of a little carrot of what 'might' be love, though you were never intended to actually have any such thing.

Christianity is about subjugation and control, the control of your mind and the subjugation of your very pescious life, of which you have no knowledge of what is actually taking place. It is disquised satism and unfortunately, it is a sad state of affairs that you are hoodwinked in to believing otherwise, because your life is not your own. The fact that it is not your own, is only apparent to others.

Christianity and organized religions create a tone of violence, aggression and belligerence that is sweetened up and cloaked with religion and spirituality. Turn the other cheek, bless those who hurt you, martyrdom to the needs of others. They are a master plan of deception going way back in time. You were born into it and schooled to believe that the lie is the truth, for your entire life.

It is impossible to chain man merely by enslaving the body, the mind also must be held and to accomplish this, fear is the accepted weapon. The common man must fear life, fear death, fear God, fear the Devil and fear most his overlords, the keepers of his destiny.

How can you solve the needs of others when you cannot solve your own. As long as you are a slave to the master, you can always blame the master. It is nothing more than the identification with the object of ones hate. If one values human life, one cannot value its destroyers.

Geezze Jewel...You know I like you, you have that sweet innocent face, nice hair and a glow of radiance about you, but you always pick on me because I am content with God in my life. I am not afraid of God striking me down, I have my own conscience, I am afraid of evil striking me down because evil will sometimes try to enter into our lives but saying the Our Father Prayer has always kept them away. I know you are laughing but it is O.K., it works for me. I don't always turn the other cheek, if I am being abused or treated unfairly, I will stick up for myself and have even been known to fight back. Yes Jewel you are right, I was born into it and I was there when the good Lord came to take my Mother home, as I held her hands and she looked straight forward I knew the Lord was with us to take her home. I know this is hard for you to understand but I'm sure there are a lot of brothers and sisters in Christ that know what I mean. I can not solve the needs of others , I can only pray for them and try to point them in the right direction. Jewel, I value human life but we do not live in a perfect world. This world is filled with evil, hate and prejudice but I try , with God's help, to stay a peaceful loving person.....Come on Jewel let's be friends.......Dolly

sorry redddolly, I'm afraid I'm going to have to change my mind then. I thought being friends meant we loved each other unconditionally. Now you are placing conditions on our relationship? Now what kind of love is that redddolly? I need to know how far we can go so I don't have to hold myself back and feel like I have to walk on eggshells in our relationship together. I need you to let loose and give your whole being to me, just like the lord said right? Did he actually say that?

Well, I'm not sure but still, you need to come forth with the goods if we are going to travel this journey together. I just can't let you tease me you know. I need some substance if you want friendship. I need to feel what it really feels like, so I can write home about it. Then, post it on the internet so I can tell the world about all the love that is coming my way. I thought you were suppose to spread it around, so what happend to that anyway?
