You know one thing about freddy, he understood the fullness of life, i dont care what anyone says, he was a vibrant person whose love was a bundant...i dont care if it "who want to live forever" or "tie your mutha down" I cry...I cant watch anything Freddy with out loosing it. The loss of what will never be just kills me and my beggist fear Is i wont get to see my Ann and Nancy....I love them you know.

Robert Palmer is no longer with us? And Drummer, SRV was the best man. As good as he was, he got flat out great after he got clean and sober. Freddy Mercury.....awesome presence. Queen would still be going strong today if he was still alive.

Didn't know that. A few of those guys on the list died of heart attacks at very young ages, but more than likely were lifestyle induced.

I love classic rock and miss a lot of the musicians and singers mentioned. When I hear one of their songs, it reminds me of a certain time in my life.

Just got through watching a documentary of Keith Moon. What a sad story that was. Here was what I consider the best drummer I've ever seen taken out by rampant drug and alcohol abuse at the height of his career. Moon was a fun-loving, lovable, mischievous guy nicknamed "Moon the Loon" due to his spontaneous and gregarious manner. What a shame.

ylek. i believe alot of these musicians who perish prematurely due to drugs and alcohol are mostly due to them having, what i would call: "a tortured soul". there was something within them that they themselves could not control, or find a means to confront the issues, that caused them to be self destructive. it's sad to watch ppl who r so gifted, so talented, and probably didn't even know or think of themselves that way. keith moon s a great example. do u think anything would have stopped him from dying at an early age. i doubt it. it's truly a shame, not just for them, but for the entire world as ppl. JMO

P.S. great thread. one that i can really enjoy. thanks.

Hey Drummer. I concur 100%. Keith Moon had a death wish of sorts since he was a kid. He was insecure and insanely jealous at times, yet maintained a really outgoing, charismatic, and mischievous persona. Ever hear some of the Moon the Loon stories? Like when he nailed all the furniture in his hotel room to the ceiling? When he burrowed a hole through his wall to the next room to ask Pete Townshend if he wanted a beer? When he put goldfish in his drum kit during a show? He was nuts, but everybody loved him.
