Sweetie, if you were talking about the difference between say 30 and 40, then maybe not so much.

You are nowhere near to the same person that you are going to be in 2, 5, 8 or 10 years. So the difference in 18 and 27 is huge.

I agree. It isn't the "number" of years that matters, it is the fact that people change SO much between 18 and 24 or so.... The best thing you can do is date as many people as you can for the next few years, learning about yourself and what you like and what you don't like, and don't even think about settling down for a while yet.

Of course there are people who marry young and it works...but in general, I think you increase your odds of long term healthy relationships if you do what I have suggested.

A year ago, you were 17 and he 26. Not much changed during that time in your life. You are still young. You haven't even begun to experience the many life experiences of relationships, ups and downs, post high school education, etc. etc. Yes, this is a huge difference.

Once a person reaches mid twenties then the age gap isn't a big factor anymore.

You are too young.

There is so much that is going to change in the next 5 to 6 years for you.

A forum vote or for your particular matter will not do any good. Why, ultimately you will make the final decision regardless of what a poll indicates. Let's just hope you make the right choice.

At your age it IS a big difference. IN 10 years it will not matter.
