| Communication, and a pair of mutual hearts. Seek out every way to share time and thoughts, and be honest in all ways.

| There's ALWAYS a possibility of true love, regardless of the distance. As long as the distance is Physically, not mentally.
My last 3 were L.D., and breif. But truthfully, the distance was the last issue in all 3. Emotional connections ( or lack thereof) were the main factors. The distance was really just the final straw. But the underlying question is always whether or not one person is willing to consider a move to close the distance gap if things get serious.

| OF COURSE!!! 9 years ago my friend met someone in yahoo...they got married a year later...My daughter met her husband thru eharmony and she married her sweetie...look at all the people who have soldiers away its not a big deal..its better than being around all the time and the chances of it becoming sexual based relationship...this long distance either makes you or breaks youand honestily no offense but it comes down to are both people unselfish...if your are both big givers and you dont expect in return it will flourish more than you know.

| You get to know someone by spending time with them. In a long distance relationship you spend all your time on the phone. I have done this before. I won't do it again. I like to be able to call someone up in the middle of the week and go out to dinner. That won't happen if they are 1000 miles away.

| I don't think distance has anything to do with love...it does, however, have a great deal to do with satisfaction (mental and physical), contentment, and expectations. Easy to do when you only want a connection...much more difficult when you define that connection as taking place in certain ways.

| I agree, Gutthans.. It is about satisfaction. As well as all the other qualities mentioned. Communication is important!! But like noted, phone calls can be like a drug. they're good for a while, but after time passes, they just simply aren't enough. And when time is spent together (in person), frustration can boil over if that time has to be shared with friends stopping by, errands to run, housework to do, etc. You tend to lack the serious, one-on-one time that is crucual in building a relationship.
