Some of God’s primary attributes are love (1Jo 4:8), wisdom (Pr 2:6; Ro 11:33), justice (De 32:4; Lu 18:7, 8), and power (Job 37:23; Lu 1:35). He is a God of order and of peace. (1Co 14:33) He is completely holy, clean and pure (Isa 6:3; Hab 1:13; Re 4:8); happy (1Ti 1:11); and merciful (Ex 34:6; Lu 6:36). Many other qualities of his personality are described in the Scriptures

rod there are truths everywhere, yes even in that phony book the bible. There are truths even in comic books too. The problem with truth is that it is a matter of just exactly who is percieving that particular truth, at that particular time in space. As your perseptions change, so does your truth. Now obviously we can see here that one mans truth is not another mans truth.

There are just a few simple universal divine rules that you need to know in order to be responsible for your journey here. The rest you can go ahead and throw out the window unless you just like to complicate the hell out of a simple life. Let me list those few rules below. Now I must remind you, these are not from God, they are from me. I made these up on my own accord and take claim to being the author and publisher of these truths and I ask that you hold these truths to be self evident and be gracious enough to pass them along to the next poor fellow who needs help too. That is all we ask.

1.) Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
2.) Love thy neighbor as thy self.

Now, was that so hard? That about sums it up rod, anything else is a bunch of controversy to confuse you so bad that you can't make heads or tails out of the rest of the english language. Keep it simple stupid, remember?

God is not loving, God is love itself, wherever you see love(ME), there is God.
God is not intelligent, God is intelligents itself, wherever you see intelligents(ME), there is God.
God is not wise, God is wisdom itself, wherever you see wisdom(ME), there is God.
God is not beautiful, God is beauty itself, wherever you see beauty(ME), there is God.

Are you paying attention rod? I hope so.

hey rodlynn,

I got me one of those "phony books" too. You know I might give credence to some if they did not start out putting others down first. NOPE! They are free to believe what they want also. See you up there!

Thank you for a thoughtful topic.

In another thread we were talking about something similar, and I was attempting to explain a belief I have regarding the soul. I believe that when we are born we get the essence of our soul from each of our parents, usually we favor one dominantly over another, but, what you have said here, rings true to me regarding this too,

And it puts me in the mind of Kabbalah. If each of the traits you mentioned are a different aspect of GOD, and they are also personality traits of humans, So we ARE created in his image as a person with a essence toward justice, say, and Love, which I can identify with greatly since both are very important recurring factors in my life, then what the Kabbalah believes regarding the fragmented soul, would also fit into this theory.

which also reminds me of a parable or two, and the part in the Old Testament ( don't remember where) where the Humans are told that one group must toil by metal, one by land, etc, because basically, it says the same thing that the Kabbalah says, which is, the collective soul is fragmented and by learning to live together with a common purpose we can be whole again. sort of what God was getting at with the toil by the soil thing, because he was really saying if you can't play together , you will suffer by needing each other and fighting until you work it out.

So, what does that tell us? That our goal should always be to work to bring the best for everyone to fruition, A buddhist philosophy, and furthermore, Your theory is supported by the HINDU faith in that the practitioners of the faith choose a god with an essence of their being, so there is a god of love, justice, war,

because they believe that all life is cyclical, the catastrophic gods arent considered bad. It is through problems and resolution that we evolve.

and Native Americans and the Pagan faith have a similar belief, They even have Koshares in some Native American cultures, that are mischief makers, and their purpose in the tribe is to discover trouble and expose it, so that the tribe can work out the problem. they paint themselves black and white, and are clownlike in appearance because they are mischief makers, but they are both good and bad in balance. an awesome practice I think.

Do you know how many " traits" for lack of a better word are listed? I wonder if it coincides with any of the other faiths?

It also makes me question where I might find a similar concept in the Muslim faith.

jewelz,

you keep saying that the Bible is myth, written by men, but where there is inspiration, there is truth, You strike me as a pretty creative guy, Havent you ever been inspired? havent you ever created something, and stepped back and thought wow, where did that come from? a song, a drawing, poetry, a thought?

If we are all beings that are made of energy, and you cannot argue successfully that we are not, Why would you assume that THAt energy isn't divine? why would you assume that anything created is not divine? Especially when the same lessons are repeated over and over throughout time, in different languages, and different cultures?

I think you are missing something fundamental here, Do YOU feel connected with your creator?
Even if your creator is only a proccess, You have to at least have a moderate amount of trust in that process?

I don't understand your thought proccess, you seem to be coming at everything not with a critical eye, but a judgmental one.

Check Out wayne Dwyer, seriously. He connected energy for me and helped me to understand it far better, although it is a constant struggle.
