The answer is in YOU guys... pay attention here! I'm sure all you guys have heard that expression:
"I want a LADY on the streets but a FREAK in the bed?"
Well... it should come as no surprise to you that we want the same thing!
We want a BAD A** in public and a SWEET guy in the house!
No girl wants to be with a man that she feels will not be able to protect her if push comes to shove, and sorry nice guys... when it comes to 'protector types' if I had my choice between "THE ROCK" and that guy off of "American Pie"... well... I'm sure you can guess who most girls would pick!!! It's a basic animal instinct. Look around at nature and you'll find your answer. Most male animals spend all their time trying to coax the females into a 'receptive state' and FENDING off other potential males.
But that is not the question you should be asking! The question you should be asking is are you a sweet guy cause you think that's what girls want (cause most girls have their "he was suck an a**hole" stories), or are you a sweet guy because you are not CAPABLE of being a bit of a bad ass? If its the later, I suggest you take notes from nature and work on your inner animal! :0)

Understandably each person comes in to a relationship with their own ideals, set of beliefs blah blah etc. But being part of a relationship also inevitably leads to a sharing of these ideals, so don't you think that in this way it is possible to...not so much "mould" the other person, but to at least influence them?

If they're treating you badly and are abusive, why would you want to be in a relationship like that? Sure, you might be able to influence them a little, but at what cost to you? Meanwhile, he might be beating you up, cheating on you, being verbally abusive, you name it. The thing is, any woman who stays with a guy like that has issues herself, self-esteem issues. She needs to stop trying to change the guy she's with and start taking a look at herself and finding out why she thinks so little of herself that she's constantly attracted to men who treat her like crap. The reason is because she has no or very little self-esteem and deep down that's what she thinks she deserves.

| Drummaster777, you hit the nail on the head there. I was married to the only man I ever dated or slept with, for 18 years. A month ago he left me for another woman. Our whole marriage he has physically hit me (first 5 yrs), verbally abused me ( next 10 yrs), and cheated and lied (last 3 yrs). I couldn't stop myself from forgiving him and taking him back - it was like he had some sort of power over me. It's like an addiction and you go through withdrawal symptoms and it's so much easier to forgive them then go through life alone.
I would love to meet a sweet guy that would treat me like a princess for a change, but on the other hand, there has to be some attraction there or it doesn't work.
My advice to the men who are having trouble finding women, take a good look at yourself in the mirror and find a quality you think is good about you and work that angle! Believe it or not, everyone is shallow to some degree. Work on becoming more attractive to the opposite sex and believe in yourself! If you come across with confidence in you, ladies will pick up on that and want to be near you.

| Wow, the million dollar question. Of course, women would ask the same thing I'm sure - my question is WHY, if so many of us are here (and everywhere!) looking for the same thing, so FEW of us find it? I have theories...but with internet dating/personals, I think 99% of it comes down to a photo...if you don't like it, you're not going to know that person is sweet or anything else.
