Diamonds are beautiful (probably more so to me because the only ones I've ever owned, I bought for myself). However, I've seen some synthetics, like CZ's, that rival even the most pure diamond ever created naturally from a lump of coal.

Ladies (or guys), would you be offended if you discovered the beautiful jewelry item you just received for your birthday or for Valentine's Day or for Christmas or for whatever occasion - given in the true spirit of love and affection - was not a real diamond, no matter how much it blinded with light and color?

In the end, it's just a rock. Find deeper meaning within the intent rather than an artificial value created by a market group.

I'd be fine with it as long as he wasn't trying to pass it off as a real diamond. I'm not that concerned with the proper rocks. For something like an engagement ring, I'd prefer it to be the real deal, but for just a gift, I'm not particular.

Yeah check out the research. Diamonds should be way less valuable but debeers owns virtually all the diamond mines and keeps them rare by not releasing any.Do you think that diamonds would be sought after if they were as common as quartz? would boiz try to pass off dyed glass as amethyst? HaH Dont worry about it. as long as he wasnt trying to lie.

I agree with mmaru Good Morning all, as long as it is not in a lie.
However I like other stones more than diamonds for ex: opals
Tigers eye
Birth stones

I wouldn't be angry if I knew that it was synthetic and not trying to be passed off as something it wasn't. Kinda like some of the "fake" people here.

I have bought alot of real ones in my life but after what I found out last month I don't know if its better to buy CZ's, I have a friend that she went to work for Zales 3 months ago and she said the 3rd day she was there this real nice guy comes in and wants to look at diamond rings cause he is going to ask this girl to marry him, well my friend said after 30 mins he decides on this ring that cost $8995.00 so he buys it well she said about a month and a half later the same guy comes back and wants to get a refund on the ring and she ask him what happen and he said the girl broke up with him, so she goes and gets her boss cause it was such a large amout, and her boss looks at the ring and tells the guy he can't give him a refund because the ring had been worn for a few days even know it was in perfect condition, but he tells the guy that they could buy it back from him so the guy ask what they would give him for it and her boss says they could only give him $800.00 for the ring, well my friend said they had to call the cops cause this guy went off on her boss, well she said after the cops got the guy to leave she ask her boss why they would only give him $800.00 for a ring that he just paid $8995.00 and not counting the guy paid over 800.00 in sales tax, and her boss told her because the ring only cost the company $990.00 so he couldn't give him more then what they could buy them for he said Diamonds have the biggest mark up in them and people are crazy for paying so much for them, he told my friend he bought his own wife a CZ that was real gold for $220.00 that look just like a ring they sold for $12,500.00 he said it was the same band just the stone was a CZ and nobody could tell the difference.

I'm not impressed by jewelry because it's expensive. I like it when a woman knows how to put all her colors together, clothes and jewelry, despite the expense.

I don't care for people to blatantly show off their expensive jewelry. I think it shows poor taste. Same goes for men who want people to see their rolexes or expensive rings.

Not much for diamonds except for one......it's my son's birthstone, would love to have a mother's ring. Other then that, it's the thought that counts.

as long as its not passed off as a diamond then theres nothing wrong with it. im not really into diamonds i prefer my birthstone which is turquoise for saggitarius or topaz for november.

i once had someone do the opposite, gave me diamond earrings i thought they were fake because they were on a teddy bears ears. i gave them back when i found out but i kept the bear.

I'd rather go to the hills of Georgia and hunt for minerals, gemstones and gold. If I find anything worthwhile I'd have it set and give that as a gift.
