| personality is the first and most important attribute ,but looks do matter if i am not attracted to him well how can i be honestly with them where will that spark come from ...but it is mostly the personality i have met some really nice looking guys but thier personality sucked so see ya lol and also i have met some semi attractive guys who had a heart of gold they are still my friends ...

| In the real world, f you don't find the person physically attractive in some way, chances are you'll never have the opportunity to find out about their personality.
At least here in cyberspace, you get to know some of the peoples' personalities (if they are being truthful) by going on these forums, to go along with the pictures. Then the choice is yours.

| I think that the personality is more inportant than looks but I also don't want a nasty looking woman but I am not and never will be a person to look at the way a woman looks but she must have a great personality and a loving heart.

| I don't lie....Looks are not important to me. Attraction to another comes in many forms, not only looks. You can be God's gift to women but if you are ugly in heart I don't want you. You can be homely as sin and be kind and respectful and yes you are attractive to me. The world in general...yes they seem to mean so much, maybe why divorce rate is so high?? Looks fade and when I'm with that wrinkled old prune of a man I married way back when...he better have some personality!

| In all honesty...of course looks matter....as do body language and the way a person carries one self.... at least to a degree.
In general, I think the first thing you notice about someone is what they look like, before they even have a chance to open their mouth, and show you their personality. For me, this could be a deal breaker right from the start. Beauty, however is in the eye of the beholder, and what might appeal to me, may not appeal to the next gal.
There have been times, though, when initially I wasn't physically attracted to someone, but as I got to know them better, was won over by their personality, and over time found them appealing and became attracted to them.
I guess that's why I say looks matter....
to a degree.
ETA~ Just want to clarify, that while looks do matter as a rule.... a good personality must also be part of the package, or it doesn't matter how good looking you are. If you are great looking, but you're arrogant, egotistical, selfish or condescending....then forget about it.

| Dang it, Now I know why everyone always tells me looks don't matter.
Looks are important. There has to be something there to attract you to the person. If there's no attraction, or something to get your attention, personality won't even come into play.
Some how you need to get their attention. Looks is an attractant that can get someone to notice you long enough so your personality can come into play.
You need some sort of bait to get a bite.

| on the internet, it's looks that matter nearly all the time. In real life, you can meet someone you might not be that attracted to, but as you get to know them, they actually get more attractive to you! It's happened to me, anyway.

| I have never wanted anyone to judge me or like me just because of my looks. Whether they thought good or bad about my looks. I just want to be loved for who I am, because I will love the right man for who he is, not what he looks like.
Our looks won't make us happy nor will our looks make our love stronger. JMO
