| i'm not quite sure how to address this but....i've had a couple of really nasty emails when i've deleted someone's wink or message...i didn't realize they could see that ....
i'm not meaning to be hurtful, it's just that i'm not interested in that person for whatever reason.
first of all, how do they know they've been deleted?
secondly, what do you folks do for those you're not interested in?
clueless in md....

| When you click on sent messages it tells if the receiver has read or deleted it. Deleted doesn't mean unread.
I guess I'd just "delete" the nasty follow-ups as well.
I don't recall deleting any of my received mails. I think they just go away after a period of time anyway.

| You can delete received messages by clicking on the box next to them then click on the delete button at the top. Sent messages show read, sent reply or deleted. They fall off as you acquire new ones or 30 days whichever come first.

| Welcome to DHU!
Don't worry about deleting your emails and winks. We all do it for one reason or another. I have stated in my profile I don't respond to winks or shadows, but I get them anyway. For those nasty emails, you can block them, when you read the email just click on block and they can't contact you again.
One more thing...
Be careful of opening pictures that are attached that you didn't ask for, you may get a surprise you didn't want! It happens to a lot of women, just block, block, block.
good luck, there's a lot of great guys here!

| Clairvoyance on your part! if the reaction is to send you a nasty email, then it just sounds like you made the right decision to delete the mail.

| Sorry this has happened to you - it's one of the "perks" of having your own free will at DH - it's limited.
Block user on anyone who hassles you and don't allow yourself to feel guilty.

| hey yoolenspeegl, is that where my winks and emails have been going to? My my, what a waste of goodtyping, great conversation, fabulous punch lines, and time, not to mention time it took me to write all those books i emailed you? you were to proof read them for a comment on the publishing.

if anyone's nasty to you, block-em and report them. no second chances. one-strike rule.
if you even think they'll be nasty to you, block-em. zero-strike rule. you're entitled!!
being here does not give anyone the right to be abusive to you.

| It takes a lot of "courage" to put ourselves "out here" so to speak. So I tend to respond to whomever has written me....or winked (which I actually really hate). But I respond with a thank you,not interested, good luck with your search. Or we have a pleasant exchange and life goes on from there.
Sometimes (as I have done at times)...the persona may just be interested in something in your profile and just wants an answer to a question or something about you just clicked for them and they took the chance to reach out. A short thanks...but no thanks is the least I can do.
I think of this as the hallways of a building. Everyone who says hello to you isn't trying to jump your bones at lunch that day or marry you by the next Friday. They may just be looking for a soul with which to connect...if even for a brief moment.
That all being said...when I have been "blown off" by someone I tend to chalk it up to Karma and I'm glad I didn't waste further time on them anyway.
What we give to the "least" of us.... is what I learned.
We all want a millionaire Adonis or a nymphomaniac supermodel...but sometimes our soulmate...the person that is just right for us and will be there at the end of our days, happily, is that funny looking guy with the solid job who has love to give.
