Well IM more of a country plow boy ,then an urban cowboy, most of the ranches I know, use four wheelers now for the actural work. The horses are for fun,or to pretend to be cowboys. If a man sits at a table with his hat on,rest assured hes a want to be.

Well ladies, if you think auctions and such smell bad...then you don't need a cowboy! Sometimes what we want and what we need are not one in the same. And there certianly are differences in peoples perceptions of "cowboys". And theres cowboys that are cowboys for a living or lifestyle and those that do it as rodeo living professionally ect. I'm looking for a cowboy/horseman because I live a life that I've learned other men don't understand about horses and livestock. When you eat bologna sandwiches to buy horse feed, when you walk a sick horse at 2 in the morning in the rain, when you can't go on vacation because you have responsibilities...these are the reasons I LOOK and more. They are a dying breed, but on a lighter note, yeah they seem to melt your heart with that gentleman personality and smile.

tacobueno: Cowboy Up!! We have a rodeo nearby here once a year in Middle Illinois believe it or not; love the rodeo! Also, in Rockford,IL. The cowboys used to come over to the Circle K where we all line danced, country two-step, country swing dance, etc. (I taught it/danced it) and we had a great time! One very nice cowboy taught this country lady how to country three step. Wow! Nice guys!

I did meet a cowboy from the hills of N. Carolina many years ago....taught me how to clog...very special guy...nice memory...

LOL! tacobueno: very well put! I grew up on a farm in N. Illinois, took care of all of the animals (no horses, but plenty of livestock); I kept right up with my brothers! LOL! Does it count that we rode the cattle like horses when Dad wasn't looking? LOL! Keep smiling everyone! Life is good!

Cowboys aren't easy to love and they're harder to hold. they'd rather give you a song than diamonds and gold. momma's don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys. waylon and willie. i dated a team roper. he got married on me, now going through a divorce. but we are still friends. he just works too damn hard!

My all time favorite cowboy song!

“My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys”

I grew up a-dreamin' of bein' a cowboy,
and Lovin' the cowboy ways.
Pursuin' the life of my high-ridin' heroes,
I burned up my childhood days.
I learned of all the rules of the modern-day drifter,
Don't you hold on to nothin' too long.
Just take what you need from the ladies, then leave them,
With the words of a sad country song.
My heroes have always been cowboys.
And they still are, it seems.
Sadly, in search of, but one step in back of,
Themselves and their slow-movin' dreams.

Cowboys are special with their own brand of misery,
From being alone too long.
You could die from the cold in the arms of a nightmare,
Knowin' well that your best days are gone.
Pickin' up hookers instead of my pen,
I let the words of my years fade away.
Old worn-out saddles, and 'old worn-out memories,
With no one and no place to stay.

My heroes have always been cowboys.
And they still are, it seems.
Sadly, in search of, but one step in back of,
Themselves and their slow-movin' dreams.

Sadly, in search of, but one step in back of,
Themselves and their slow-movin' dreams.

Well I have put myself out there and still no takers of this cowboy. I am a well rounded cowboy and father. I think I am one of the rare ones still around. Still waiting to give someone that special ride only a real cowboy can give. This is actually work I think trying to find someone, kinda like learning to rope!

His eyes are cold and restless
His wounds have almost healed
And she'd give half of texas
Just to change the way he feels
She knows his love's in tulsa
And she knows he's gonna go
Well, it ain't no woman, flesh and blood
It's that damned old rodeo.

Well, it's bulls and blood
It's dust and mud
It's the roar of a sunday crowd
It's the white in his knuckles
The gold in the buckle
He'll win the next go 'round
It's boots and chaps
It's cowboy hats
It's spurs and latigo
It's the ropes and the reins
And the joy and the pain
And they call the thing rodeo.

She does her best to hold him
When his love comes to call
But his need for it controls a man
And her back's against the wall
And it's "so long girl, i'll see you."
When it's time for him to go
You know the woman wants her cowboy
Like he wants his rodeo

It'll drive a cowboy crazy
It'll drive the man insane
And he'll sell off everything he owns
Just to pay to play her game
And a broken home and some broken bones
Is all he'll have to show
For all the years that he spent chasin'
This dream they call rodeo.

Well I'm not a true "cowboy" but I do live on a farm and milk cows for a living. I love horses and can ride with the best of them, just don't own a horse at this time. This is a pic of a few of my cows at milking time.
