| Experts look at terrorists in our backyard

BOSTON
When it comes to fears about a terrorist attack, people in the U.S. usually focus on Osama bin Laden and foreign-based radical groups. Yet researchers say domestic extremists who commit violence in the name of their cause - abortion or the environment, for example - account for most of the damage from such incidents in this country.
These homegrown groups are seven times more likely than overseas groups to commit an act of violence in the United States, a panel reported yesterday at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
In many ways, actions by these domestic extremists can be termed terrorist cases, the researchers indicated. "The typical 'terrorist' is an alienated guy, usually a young male," said Brian Forst of American University in Washington.
"They take comfort in like-minded souls and develop an idea they think will make a splash," he said. They do not always carry it out, but sometimes they do, he said. "They are not lunatics."
More research is needed into these domestic extremists and what leads them to commit violence, said Gary LaFree of the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism at the University of Maryland, College Park.
"It's just as important to understand the bomb-maker as it is to understand the bomb," he said.
That is what Kelly R. Damphousse of the University of Oklahoma has been working on: where the extremists live and work, where they meet and build their weapons, and where and when they strike.
Damphousse said right-wing extremists spend the most time meeting, preparing and planning before committing a violent act.
"Environmentalists don't need much [planning]. They need a spray can. They need a match. They don't have to build a bomb," Damphousse said.
Often, he said, they are simply frustrated by the political process and decide, "Let's go do something."
Tuesday is the most common day for an attack, he said. Right-wing extremists tend to be early risers, striking in the morning, he said, while left-wing activists wait until evening and environmentalists wait until after midnight.

Here in Lexington, KY there is the Inter-Faith Alliance, which is comprised of a number of different relgions.
The Muslim organization has offered to and have conducted a number of workshops to help other Americans learn about the Islam.

Since the conclusion of the Civil War, white supremacist organizations like the KKK, Aryan Nations, Invisible Knights of the KKK, etc., have been committing crimes at a much higher rate than the ones now being committed by Islamist fanatics.
However, we rarely read or hear about these crimes in the American media?!
Why?!
The number of people that have been killed, tortured, etc., by these American fanatics over the years astronomically outnumbers the death toll for 9/11.
Are we to also assume that "peace-loving white Americans" are somehow enabling the white supremacist fanatics by not demanding that these crimes be publicized?!
Many American cities are worried about the loss of tourism dollars if their city is identified as a place "where hate groups commit a lot of crimes."
When the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights reported on the rash of Black church fires during the mid-nineties, they found that most of the fires were not even reported by the local media in the towns/cities where the fires occurred.
Hence, before "you people" condemn "peace-loving Muslims"....you need to look in your own damn backyard first.

We are now told again and again by "experts" and "talking heads" that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectra of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.
The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history.
It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave.
It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. The hard quantifiable fact is that the "peaceful majority", the "silent majority", is cowed and extraneous.
Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people.
The peaceful majority were irrelevant.
China's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people. The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.
And, who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were "peace loving"? History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points: Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.
Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.
Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghanis, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.
As for us who watch it all unfold; we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

| Personally I believe the world will be in deep shit if the US citizens decide to get serious about using terrorism on our enemies. With the knowledges and resources available, we are quite capable of the making the moslem extremists look like rank amatures. Hell, as a kid I had a complete collection of 1965 Special Forces hand books..(Improvised explosives and demolitions, Guerrila tactics...(including the proper way to bomb schools and public buildings), Survival tactics, Improvised weaponry....the list goes on)

| The Anarchist cook book was ok. It is just that in comparison.....the old special forces manuals were SOOOOO clear and laid out simple.
Under my dad's supervision....I was allowed to dig a big hole out in a field away from our house and he would let me blow up paint cans from his paint and body shop....it was really cool! Electric nail grenades are no joke!
