| Who has predictions about what life will be like for us in the year 2030? Or any time in the not too distant future. Surely there are folks out there who read tea leaves or tarot cards or Nostradamus or goat entrails, or who have great ESP powers who can tell us. Or maybe your prophesies come from the Book of Revelations or another religious work. Or, maybe from reasoned projections of the current direction of the world.

| Most people are still worrying about what life will be like in 2008
Why 2030? Why not 2050?

| By the year 2080, I'll probably be dead, so I have nothing to worry about, considering the fact I'll be 103 years old.

| By the year 2030, very few people will commute to work in cars, because it will be too expensive. They will either work from home or walk to work or they will ride commuter trains. Air travel will be much more expensive than now, so that only the very wealthy can afford it, but there will be very fast transcontinental trains. The big houses being built these days will be filled in 2030 by large extended families of 10 people to a household. People will in general be happier and healthier, but will own less stuff. A serious epidemic in 2020 will kill 10% of the people of the world. Russia will be led by a religious party closely affiliated with the Orthodox Church. Most important decisions will be delegated to computers, which by this time will have much better analytical skills than people. Lack of water will end agriculture on the US plains states, which will instead be dedicated to large herds of buffalo and sheep. Lack of water will be a problem everywhere, and people will only bathe twice a week. Solar and wind and nuclear power will be very common. Horses will replace tractors for most agriculture. Most unskilled labor will be provided by wandering groups of tent dwelling sects, each led by a religious figure or a rock band.
