| Since some of us are planning to meet in Newport for Loyalty Days, I wanted to to make sure everyone had the right dates.
Loyalty days starts Fri 5/2 ends on Sun 5/4. This is per a phone call to the Newport Chamber of Commerce.
I hope many of you can make it.
I'm saving my pennies (up 18 cents, now) and have scheduled vacation time.

| Ok, will post here too then. Vacation time is turned in. A friend has just recommended The Embarkadareo Resort. Shall we all go peek at them online and see what we think???

| I haven't been to Newport in at least 5 years and never stayed at the embarcadero, but it is on the bay, rather than on the ocean. I always wanted to try it out. From the outside it looks like a romantic place. Being on the Bay puts it in Old Town Newport, walking distance to Mo's which has absolutely awesome clam chowder. Old Town has a lot of touristy souveneer shops & I recall a wax museum. I would not mind staying there one bit.

| Gulp...I will start saving nickles and dimes then instead of pennies. I wonder if it is a world mark resort...I could manage it then, a friend of mine belongs to world mark and I can use her points instead. *runs off to check it out*

| Looking at the Newport hotel/motels there are several beach front properties; Shilo Inn, Best Western, La Quinta, that are resort class and in the same price range as the Embarcadero. Econolodge and Comfort Inn don't have amenities but are significantly less expensive at least 1/2 the price.

| I personally like the fireside inn down in Yachats,,, close enough to Newport to commute,,but ocean views and more ambiance in Yachats.Mo's has changed the clam chowder recipe ..so its not as good as it use to be..

| Loyalty Day was originated by the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) on the East Coast, with Newport’s Veteran’s starting our local Loyalty Day celebration in May of 1956. As the celebration continued to spread throughout the nation, Congress wrote a Joint Resolution and President Eisenhower signed the Bill into Law designating the First of May as Loyalty Day. From then until now, Newport’s celebration has been going strong.
Newport Loyalty Day’s festivities include the Queen’s Coronation, Vietnam Veteran’s remembrance with the annual Memorial Reading of the Names, Davis Show carnival, classic cars shows, the traditional hometown patriot parade Saturday, May 5th and various other activities hosted throughout the city. With Newport’s strong support of the Loyalty Day tradition and its recognition as a Coast Guard City USA, we invite you to share in the 125th year celebration of this extraordinary community we call home.

| LOL, Ornative, I was just teasing about the snoring. I have been told that I snore lightly too when I have been drinking or when I am super over tired.
