China is making a lot of progress in a lot of ways economically, socially, militarily, ect.
Its going to be interesting to see how they are going to effect the world in the future.

How do you think they are going to affect the u.s.?Do you think they have the ability to become more powerfull than the u.s.?

China is not a super power and has a long way to go to become one. They can become one if they keep on the current path. The big problem they have is their whole economy is totally based on ours, so it would be difficult on them if we hit a snag. They do need to be watched, that is for sure.

Only in the number of people.

They are way behind on most military technologies and in order to be a true superpower you have to have a global navy which they don't even come close to having.

However they do own our financial markets. Aren't they actually paying for the war and charging us interest. If we, the greatest superpower, are borrowing from them I would say they have reached a step in superpower status, but not all the way yet.

Qauntum.I did some research about what you said.and it was pretty interesting.

In 2006 former secretary of commerce Pete Petterson was interviewed by CNN.
He said that china is the other side of the U.S.

The u.s. account deficit(2006) was 7% while chinas at the time had a 9% gdp surplus. He said that they save more and consume to little and the u.s.spends to much and saves to little.

So right now I guess its becoming more of an economic power than any thing else.

Apart from the subject if pollution, china days of one-child policy could be numbered as beijjing considers change.
The government as concerned about the gender imbalance and aging population.
the controversial rules restrict urban families to one child and rural to two. The policy has become divisive due to financial penalties, which allow wealthier families more than others, which has caused resentment in china.
Several have called for a two child policy. The gov says its current policies have resulted in 400m fewer births. They worry reform will increase population by 1.3billion.

They see population control as essential to economic growth.
zhao acknowledged problems posed by cultural preference for boys and warned ultrasound techniques to decipher sex, leading to termination could become a big issue in china

I agree that China is in the running to be a super power. She has an army of 2,000,000. As China becomes wealthier she will be able to buy any technology she needs, the Russians are already selling China weapons. I agree that the problem for China is that her economy is tied to ours.
