I work for and pay for my own healthcare plan with less than zero help from the Goverment that takes far more from me than will ever help me.
I guarantee if I needed stitches or a broken bone set....100% would come out of my pocket irreguardless of how much taxation is taken from my checks.

| yeah, I can tell you why the government should take care of taxpayers, because minimum wage isn't enough to pay for it, and because Not all Americans are capable of earning enough to pay for it.
furthermore I think your perspective is limited, and self centered, we have soldiers coming back sick and maimed and No mental health system, we have young men coming back with brain injuries, we have the largest number of retirees about to descend on us that we have ever had in the history of humanity, and we have 50 million uninsured.
Lets not forget that because we don't have a private system we have mandatory auto Insurance laws. that make minimum wage completely impossible to raise a family on.
also prostitution is untaxed because we don't have a way to regulate it. and we have people dying because the prostitutes don't have health care.
because our prisons are over crowded with drug addicts, because we have no national health service.
because the government take our money and gives us nothing but a bill and harrassment in exchange. That is why I want a public system,
and because I have lived in the social system America currently have, The military system, and it works well but is too limited. and because even better yet, I lived with the british system and KNOW that it is amazing, and the PR campaign against it is perpetuated by the Insuarnce compaonies that want to keep the current system that is profitable to them only. That is why as well.
and last But not least, because I have a brain in my head and I can see that it is neccessary to balance the social and private system to create competition so they will feed each other and care for us.

| Curiousone2 I did in fact have cancer 15 year's ago and thank God everyday that I survived because I live in America where we have the best health care in the World!!!!!!!!!!!As far as minimum wage's. If your trying to raise a family on minimum wages you are irresponsible.This might sound calous but if you lack the job skill's to make more than minimum wage you have no busimess trying to raise a family.I wont even get into the fact that the govt has no business setting minimum wage. Made me fairly sick to see all the waste.

You making enough money to pay for your family is not the govmt responsibility...Its yours. Do you think someone who works at the counter at MickyDs should make the same money as say a surgeon? You think they use comprable skills to do the job? People sacrafice to become skilled and trained. They sacrafice both financially and their time. thats what getting an education is about so you can compete.
Social security was originally set up as a SUPPLEMENT. Not intended to be the sole income for an individual. Bush tried to do something about it 8 years ago but congress stuck their heads up thier a**es and voted it down. Any plan that admitted they screwed up is going to get voted down. Especially if a republican brought it to the table. Bush wanted the public to take responsiblity for thier own retirement...give back our money. And as usual the dems said...the public doesnt have the brains to invest their own money. They cant learn how to do that? Besides, congress needed that cash to spend elsewhere.

Sorry, but considering how many of those arrogant bastards murder every year, including my mother, grandmother, and many others I know, I don't think they should get any more than a burger flipper. I also think that the docs that pass out a pill just because they are too lazy to come up with a real diagnosis or cure, should be charged the same as any other drug dealer. Also, just read an article yesterday that said 80% of interns give patients placebos, not real medicine. Can you maybe use a different example, like a trash collector or something LOL I have a serious vendetta against the medical field in general.
How about teachers? Give THEM the big bucks, and have that field get more competetive. Can you imagine the good that would do overall?
