| I believe that it is an original American art form and should be respected
just as jazz, country, r&b and rock & roll is. It make's me feel good to
watch and to get up off of the couch and start dancing.

| I hate rap and hip-hop. I worked in a jail for a few years and I've seen where that lifestyle leads. It just doesn't speak o me on any level.

| Can't do the breakdancing myself & with a teen-ager hiphop has been taught to me, It's not really my style, but I've seen so many different generations come up with there own style, I kinda look at it as 2 each his own.

| I agree with brendaj. Every generation produces something deifferent. Every ethnic group has something different. As for this topic....I don't care for the music because it because it lacks the musical quality that I prefer. As for break dancing...I admire those who can do that. That takes physical talent! I would never attempt that. With my luck I'd probably break something that would take a loooooooong time to heal! So for all the Hip-Hoppers and Break Dancers.....GO FOR IT! Enjoy!

| You go Hawky - I have an ecclectic taste in music, as you can tell from my profile - But I love quality HIP HOP, the kind that has a story to tell , poetic and forthright, hell, I like some of the commercial stuff too, so long as I can dance to it.
As for break dancing, I am a trained street dancer, and believe it is just as important a dance form then any other. I admire people whom do it well, and love the culture that comes with it. People who disregard hip hop and being yukky, are just stereotyping it.
It's cool if people don't like it, but to fob it off and describe it like that is insulting! - There is so much variety in hip hop, but some people only choose to beleive its all about tits, ass and killing!!!
Some rap is just pure poetry, listening to some lyrics astounds me, the flow and content can be incredible.......

| I think its stupid. The music aint music its a bunch of turds saying things that kids really should be hearing and the danceing looks like a group of chimps getting together and jumpimg around. Kind of like the mosh pits to me thats real stupid also. Guess I am just old fashion

| When Rock N Roll came out I read where someone said "Rock N Roll has got to go" and it's still around. Things change and something new will emerge.

| I absolutely love watching people dance in pretty much any form, but definitely hip-hop is one of my favorites to see. It takes a considerable amount of dedication and training, and I only wish I had that kind of flexibility and talent.
As far as the music itself... it's always sort of hit and miss for me. I can enjoy anything that has a good beat, but sometimes the lyrics are just absurd... they'll make up anything just to make something rhyme without ever actually saying anything.

| Ah! Chopper. Always one wirh a wise answer. I came up throught the tail end of the Big Band era, then into Be-Bop...then came Rock Music of the 50's....now known as "Oldies Rock, Then we moved into the Folk era of the 60's...that gave way to the newer type of Rock Music and that finally moved into the trash called "Heavy Metal" that I consider nothing more than bad quality noise. I will admit that some Hip-Hop music is better than that trashy Heavy Metal, but Hip-Hop is still not my kind of music.
