| < Begin senseless rant>
I have been making comparisons of online dating to being a dog in a dog pound waiting to be picked up before being put to sleep. The dog wags its tail as you walk by you smile at it but you pass it by because it has to many flaws, its too old etc, or has only three legs. The dog looks to cage to his left and sees you choose the perfect dog instead the perfect
dog like a Boarder collie or a golden retriever is being adopted and loved on. The dog then cowers back into his corner with a little hope as the next potential adopter walks by his cage hoping that someone will take notice or aleast some pitty on him.
This is how i feel when i try to find a date online. I feel like the three legged dog who would be loyal but because i show the slightest bit of flaws I am past up like that 3 legged dog. Hell even the small shakey chiuhahua has a better chance than me, which make me wonder what is it with women and small dogs? Just because im not the fine breed of dog, just a mutt down on his luck. I am looked over because i show flaws just because i try to be myself.
To all the 3 legged scruffy mutts

| I'm a sucker for the dog nobody else wants. You know the one that's skinny and slobbering and just looks like he's down on his luck. Hmmmm....wonder what that says about me??

| I can relate to the theory.. I used to try and jump up and down, saying 'pick me.. pick me'. I realized it rarely works. It made me seem 'needy.' I found by being quiet, the ones who are serious will quietly walk by, see something interesting, then stop and look a lot closer.
The one who accepts me is the one who wants puppy size.. Here is the story on Puppy Size:
Sighs of the Heart
"She keeps repeating it over and over again. We've been back to this shelter at least five times. It has been weeks now since we started all of this," the woman told the volunteer.
"What is it she keeps asking for? " she asked.
"Puppy size! "
"Well, we have plenty of puppies, if that's what she's looking for."
"I know. We have seen most of them," the Mom said in frustration.
Just then the young child came walking in the office. "Well, did you find one? "
"No, not this time," she said with sadness in her voice. "Can we come back on the weekend?" The two women looked at each other, shook their heads and laughed.
"You never know when we will get more dogs. Unfortunately, there's always a supply," the volunteer said.
The young child took her Mother by the hand and headed to the door. "Don't worry, I bet we'll find one this weekend," the child said. Over the next few days both Mom and Dad had long conversations with her. They both felt she was being too particular."It's this weekend, or we're not looking any more," Dad finally said in frustration. ""We don't want to hear anything more about puppy size, either," Mom added. Sure enough , they were the first ones in the shelter on Saturday morning. By now the young child knew her way around, so she ran right for the section that housed the smaller dogs.
Tired of the routine, Mom sat in the small waiting room at the end of the first row of cages. There was an observation window so you could see the animals during times when visitors weren't permitted.
The young girl walked slowly from cage to cage, kneeling periodically to take a closer look. One by one the dogs were brought out and she held each one. One by one she said, "Sorry, you're not the one." It was the last cage on this last day in search of the perfect pup.
The volunteer opened the cage door and the child carefully picked up the dog and held it closely. This time she took a little longer.
"Mom, that's it! I found the right puppy! He's the one! I know it!" she screamed with joy.
Mom, startled by all the commotion, came running."What? Are you sure? How do you know?" she asked.
"It's the puppy sighs!"
"But it's the same size as all the other puppies you held the last few weeks," Mom said.
" No, not size -- sighs. When I held him in my arms, he sighed," she said.
"Don't you remember? When I asked you one day what love is, you told me love depends on the sighs of your heart. The more you love, the bigger the sighs!"
The two women looked at each other for a moment. Mom didn't know whether to laugh or cry. As she stooped down to hug he child, she did a little of both.
"Mom, every time you hold me , I sigh. When you and Daddy come home from work and hug each other, you both sigh. I knew I would find the right puppy if it sighed when I held it in my arms," she said.
Then holding the puppy up close to her face she said, "Mom, he loves me. I heard the sighs of his heart."

| I thought I was the wise dog buyer...then when a mangy cur showed up on my doorstep I let him in, gave him a nice place to sleep and look what happened to me....
I'm just glad I didn't care about him and could put him out the door the next day with out hassles.
Uhm...except for him coming back and biting me in the ass, raping me in the threads and having his new owner b*tch slap me....
damn I hate dogs!

| Great thread jj!
Being a bit of a 3 legged mutt myself, I tend to search out the other 3 legged mutts...lol! There is no such thing as perfect and searching for perfection is just a big waste of time (imo). I find that the lack of that leg usually means experience, which usually leads to a much bigger heart and a much stronger soul.
Which brings me to smilin bob's post...that was terrific! Thanks for sharing.

| My kids can tell you..I'm the type that always picks the older dogs or the 3 legged ones. I even brought one home once that was missing his tail and one eye. He lived for 3 yrs before he went to his final resting place.
